[Ambient Breaks]J.L. - Weighed Down

Been a while since I posted, and I don't recognize a lot of the newer people and I don't think anyone recognizes me... Anyways, I've been getting back into the swing of producing lately...

This is just something I did half a year ago that I couldn't manage to finish... It's somewhat of an ambient breaks that kinda jumps into a 4/4 set-starter rhythm... Originally I wanted this to become a 4/4 rhythm but just couldn't manage to pull it off...

Encoding: 192 kbs MP3
Length: 6:10
BPM: 140 BPM
Key: A minor

Hope you enjoy, and please leave a little feedback :)

Same problem here...

...Back to the track :)

lovely intro, bass did not appeal to me at the intro stage however fits in later on in the mix. Percussion builds up great and the vocal n FX work is great. The breakdown notation and elements are great! whoah! - hehe, just luvin that percussion build up!

Definetly a keeper,
Great start,
Keep it up!

That repetitive violin in the intro is really bugging me. Maybe if it was a lighter, more subte instrument playing it. Right now it's really diverting my attention from the beat and everything else that's going on. The beat itself is alright. I like the pads and FX building up in the background. No complaints about the rest of the track. ;)

Personally I would describe this as downtempo at 70 bpm rather than ambient breaks at 140 bpm, but that's just me. :p

I like it though, you've got nice melodies and progressions there and the vocal fx is pretty cool as well. Was that done with a vocoder, or some other effect? It's a lot like the effect that Richard Dorfmeister uses and I've been trying to figure out how exactly to do it...

I like the violin in the intro, although I think you should reduce its dynamic range because the volume difference between the attack and the release is a bit jarring. I would have liked the piano to be a hair louder as well.

Other than that bit of nitpicking, great work!

thanks for your comments guys... personally, in my own taste, i find the strings to be okay as it is... i kinda wanted to give it a dragging kinda feeling...

As for the vocals, it is the sound of a flute actually, warped around in a coupe ways with pitch bend and some EQing which made it sound kinda like a ooo sound

Appreciate the comments, thanks =)

Sounds really good, I like the melodies, basslines and pads/strings a lot. Beautiful stuff, keep up the good work.
