What is it with John Askew productions?

All his tracks are the same, simple beat, offbeat bassline, no melody at all. I mean, it must take 10 minutes for him to create a new track? Why is his music so popular? No hate intended, i just don't understand what is the idea behind the tracks?

Can someone explain this to me?

His remixes are fine I guess..
Like "Niagara" for example, pure class, delicious

Castaneda - Oceanborn (John Askew Remix)
Waterplanet - Introspection (John Askew Remix)
John Askew - Skylab

nothing to add

his kicks and his basslines are quite similar to pvd's ones...

Askew is the man, top notch stuff from him all the time, never dissapoints, yeh his stuff is simple, but LESS = MORE, im a strong beleiver in "the simpler it is, the better". Discover is such a good lable, constantly churning out top quality releases and consistently. I understand why some people wouldnt like it, but his unique bassline sounds so god dam good on a good sound system, if you ever get the chance to see him, do it!!!you wont regret!!!

thats my lot said anyway!!

I love his water planet remix - that main synth is great - but I wish he would've added a bassline :(

replace "John Askew" in the question with...

Andy Moor
Markus Schulz
PVD
Probspot
any other producer

same , different producer.

some people call it their "unique style" or "unique sound". it's what separates them from other producers. gets boring as bat when the formula is repeated over and over but it works well enough for them i suppose.

this is your own opinion. better not forget that...

it's a pattern we've all seen on these forums.

a thread like this comes up every month. just substitute the producer's name.

as for opinion, everything on intarweb forums is opinion.

personally i don't mind askew's works but I can see what Thois is getting at.
