Hey guys, I got a buddy who is doing an article about the EDM scene in Canada, one thing he needs to know is when abouts roughly trance really started to take off here?, what were some of the main events that showcased and help start it all off?, I know there isn't gonna be a specific time frame, but theres always that certain point in time when something helped boost the scene the most, so any info would be great, thanks.

Tell your friend not just to focus on trance but EDM in general.

The most significant event for dance music in canada was Exodus back in 91 i think it was. It was the first "rave" in canada. Also check out Richie hawtin (plastikman) as he is canadian and one of the pioneers of techno music. EDM MAINSTREAM popularity peaked in 1999 in Canada and has been steadily declining ever since.

The scene for those who truely love the music though is still quite strong but is more underground in toronto now.

As for trance? Its been around almost as long as house and techno.

Not so fast...

He still maintains a house in Windsor(Mine and his hometown).

I see him in coffee shops and walking down the street sometimes. He doesn't exactly blend in!

True he does, but nationality is defined by more than just a birth / locality.

Berlin was really my first choice. I guess for a lot of reasons, but all kind of tied to the fact that doing what I do is really like a lifestyle, and I wanted to go somewhere where I would find likeminded people. And I definitely wasn’t finding them in the Windsor area anymore

Detroit and windsor are one and the same.

His studio is/was in windsor and so were some of his most memorable parties.

Ask anyone old enough in windsor about the barn rave out in essex county back in 95

Thats definately a party your friend needs to research.
