| I went. First time seeing either. Burridge... I don't really remember much. But I guess he was good cause I remember dancing the whole night. Hawtin, however, was DOPE. Didn't really think I would dig a techno DJ, but I'm glad I was wrong. |

oh alright, cuz i was gonna spill the beans that im getting married instead.
so anyway, yea, my review did totally suck. :stongue: i saw shamus like minutes after i got there around 1am after i left crobar and i think i jumped on him- i can't remember what was said but i wished we woulda hung out more!! he really rules :D so, lee burridge was playing like acid house techno @ 135ish bpm. which is FAST for lee. he's kind of a hit or miss kind of guy i feel-- people gave him bad reviews @ Opus22 but good reviews at the other venue he played at a day or two later in the city.
i was like.. "o rly?" but honestly, i was expect quirky, minimal but danceable techhouse. regardless i was obliterated and i was with some of my dearest friends so i didn't stop dancing for . BUT! then richie came on...prally around 3ish?? omg, crowd started clapping and screaming... everyone was diggin it, the vibe was there ++++. he was just dropping SERIOUSLY minimal (read: 3 or less elements in the song) but this man knows how to with the EQ soooo good-- dropping the bass, playing with filters and whatnot- he really kept us on our toes and i couldn't believe that music could make me dance the way it did. i was definitely listening more intently on richie's set bc i stopped drinking around 3:30 i guess? (bar closes in ny clubs at 4am). i was dancing on the platforms the whole night i think, which is SO not me. :wtf: come to think about it, i'm kind of embarrassed. i think only seriously hot chicks should dance on those things. lol. it was a great night! |
