Where to get a kitten?

Hi fellow NYTAs... I'm in the process of looking for a kitten and was wondering if I have overlooked any places... I went to Petco in Union Square and the only way to get a kitten there is to adopt two or already have a cat (they wont adopt a kitten on its own). Unfortunately that's not an option at this point.
So I have since tried the ASPCA and CACC on 92 and 100th St respectively and have been too late in adopting (someone has beat me every time). I will go back and visit those two shelters in a few days to see if any new kittens have come in. I have also tried Bide-A-Wee via phone and they didn't have any kittens.
Am I missing any places?
Thanks,
Keith |

| Try Petco on Weekends. I hear they give kittens for adoptions. I'm going myself this Saturday or Sunday to try and get one. ;) |

Is that in Port Washington? That says it's 20 miles away from Manhattan! I don't have a car here or anything... I was hoping to find something in Manhattan, thanks. |

| I got my wee one at North Shore like 8 years ago... he's a huge one now. This isn't the best season for kittens either, it's a little late. Even in April when I got mine, those things were gettin brought out of the back room to be put on display in cages and being grabbed a second later. Kittens sellin like hotcakes. :p |

| You can check craigslist.com under the Pets section or even the free section. Good Luck! |

Oh yeah, forgot to mention I tried there... have e-mailed a few people but they have not responded? Craigslist seems a bit shady at times... I know kitten season is april - october so I'm hoping ot just make the cut... ;)
Thanks guys,

another place you can go is on E. 26th Street between 2nd & 3rd Avenues. I don't remember the name, but it's one or two doors down from the tattoo place, on the north side of the street and very close to 3rd Avenue. You walk up some steps to go in there.
I don't know if they always have kittens, but they are a good shelter and it might be worth a try. I've met most of the cats there and they are *adorable*.
EDIT: I just did some google searching (good old google) and here is the website for that place:

And I also found this website, which will probably help you a lot:

Good luck. :)
