Before the noob bash begins... I tried to search and read so many threads but still there are so many unanswered..
I'm just starting out and I've been practicing with a software Traktor for about a month. and I want to get my hands onto the real equitment and practice. Basically, I need a mixer, two CDJs, a pair of headphones, and maybe a set of speakers? I've been looking online and I came across this.
http://www.electronicscity.com/inde...2dd185f33eb7676
under that page, there's a deal: Pioneer CD Pack 2 CDJ200 CD Players & 1 Behringer DJX700 Mixer for $779.
Is that a good deal and is the mixer any good? I've heard some different stories about the mixer. if not, which package would you guys recommend on that site? my budget is preferably under $1000... and Will I also need to buy speakers or is there a way to somehow plug in my computer speakers?
thanks in advance.
-an enthusiastic future dj. :tongue2 |

i think the main point in ALL the "different stories" is that its e!
ave got a djx that i replaced wae an ecler, and trust me, it really is ! even behgringer admitted it was and suggested to someone on this board that they should just upgrade to another mixer!
DONT TOUCH IT!
cdj are decent though.
personally id go for the one with the djm 707, maybe the djm300. |

Obviously the Behringer is goind to perform worse than many other mixers, what do you expect out of a mixer worth 139 USD? But for the money, and if you are simply a budding bedroom DJ and can't afford the DJM 600 (which many of us can't), then the Behringer DJX-700 is an excellent choice. It mimics exactly whatt he DJM-500 and 600 do, but behringer was able to cut costs by using cheaper components. Unless you use it in a club, or a LARGE party, you will probably never notice the difference in quality.
In my opinion (and that is all it is), the Behringer DJX-700 works great for a bedroom/living room / small house party setting. it's what I've got, and I love it. We've spent so many hours bashing the crap out of it, and it still works to perfection. |

| youve obviously never had the good fortune of mixing on a half decent mixer then, because anyone that has would never compare that peice of crap to a pioneer .. of any model! |

I have had the pleasure of using a DJM-600, but what I am trying to state is that they both serve two different purposes:
DJM-600: Built to last, great components -> Designed for the club life
DJX-700: Built for cost efficiency, cheap -> Designed for use at home
Pioneer built a beast, and the DJX-700 does not compare. But for what I am sure he plans on doing, it is perfect. |

| I have the DJM-300 and it does the job...good. I would suggest that DJM-300 package. Ironically as i write this i'm waiting for the UPS man to come to my door with my new Denon DN-x1500 mixer :D |

go for the package with the djm-300 or djm-707 along with the 2 cdj-200
they're good for someone starting out while giving them something that actually performs |

Yea, nice stay clear cut away from the djx 700. I recently "upgraded" to a numark matrix 2...yes, the mixer that comes with one of the dj in box things, and its MUCH MUCH MUCH better than the djx 700, thats how bad it is. If your gonna go with something, I would do 707, but there are many more choices out there. Good hardware forums are www.djforums.com might find more direct input there if you can't find anything here.
EDIT: Got my green light on the 707, especially its small price difference! Love those fader curve knobs...the one the thing the djx 700 is missing! I hate exponential faders! :whip: The one thing that bothers me though...as someone else pointed out, why is it cheaper to get 2 cdjs with a mixer than just 2 cdjs? :conf:
PS: I am currently at csulb, what part of long beach are you at? Yes, it is a beautiful city :) |
