Anyone ever play edm at a top 40 crowd?

| Usually it's requested, but sometimes I'll mix something with a 124-134bpm (like Outkast - The Way You Move) with a more respectable dance mix of a pop song. They usually dig it. Of course, there's always the obligatory Sandstorm request, and I usually oblige - if I don't they won't stop bugging me. |

| i always managed to sneak in a couple of breaks remixes or mashups while playing to top 40 crowds. at the club where i used to work it started out with rnb & yop 40's before progressing full on to eurocheese after midnight. thats when u start bangin stuff by yoji, dark by design and stuff in between eurodance tracks and people dont know the difference. |

BWAHAHAHAHAHA
The local club here is a total Julio-fest when they're not bringing in headliners. I had the task of playing there in the main slot on Saturdays and it was a pain in the ass sometimes...
There usually was a good amount of people there to hear us play but when more than 5 people would ask for "Hip Hop"...the owner would send the word from his booth to bring on the Top 40 scab.
We usually played no more than an hour and got paid 150.00 for it, so it was well worth it, but some people just want music geared towards the lowest common denominator. |
