| i mix from one track to another within 45secs to 1.5 mins. any longer and tracks start clashing. i would never want a tracks main part to be clashing with the other track. this would happen when mixing trance for more than 1.5mins imo. |

Yea, since I mix primarily trance I find that you get any longer than this on most tracks and you start getting melody clashes (even in key) and it just sounds nappy and cluttered to me. Some songs provide you with an enormous intro so when I get those I use it to it's full advantage, so I'd say the max is about 2.5 min with 1-1.5 being what I normally do. |

| (uplifting/epic/hard trance): 50-75 seconds on average i think. haha, no way in hell i could be holding 5 min mixes, even if i wanted to ;) |

I play some whole songs together and flip around with the filters.
An example would be this:
Classified Project - Spatial Enhancer and then mix in Sander Van Doorn - Punk'd
then I will usually mix in something else into those two.
So it really depends on what I'm doing.
Most of the time when I play Electro/House my mixes are quite quick.

I find that my im usually bringing in the into of a track on the last 2 mins of playing track cos I stay around the 139-144bpm range. I play mostly trance (likes of above and beyond, avb, ferry etc). But f I play oldschool trance, 99-01 era, then I tend to mix with shorter transitions 1.5min mainly. I like to cut beats though when playin tech so I can be bringing a track in say 4mins into a 7min track. Really does depend :)
O/T.. im mashed hence badly worded post :D |

i'd say it's generally over 2min for me. i suck at doing good sounding very quick mixes. they always sound too abrupt to me, dunno why is that though. i should really improve on that part of my mixing and my mixing in general too!

i find that too. Im still learning myself. Adjusting the EQ's help alot though.
Knowing your tracks is a majpr factor and cueing the tracks off at the right place. I tend to cue off from the first drumbeat and aim to fully transition by 64 or 128 bars. 64 bars is roughly 30 seconds, 128 bars is a minute.
Ive also in the past pulled off flukey mixes where the last beat of a track finishes when the beginning of the next track starts when ive ran outta time in a mix.. I get a nice feeling from it when I pull it off since i'll literally still be cueing the track up 3 or 4 beats from the end of the live track and i whack it in and hope for the best and it ends up sounding alright :) |

Hmm...
Nuskool Breaks are usually quick mixes, maybe 45 secs tops.
Minimal tech is usually the length of the track as I typically use three decks, so basically the entire time is spent with at least 2 tracks playing.
Psy...depends on the track, usually I do full-on which is built for the quick mix to keep the energy up, but other forms of psy allow me to layer tracks, so anywhere from 30 secs to maybe 3 mins.
Anything else is typically between 1 to 2 minutes.
Oh and Drum and Bass falls into the quick mix category as well, usually 45 secs, tops. |

Getting a bit defensive there!
