Yeah a couple years back in the DJ Mag, when they announced the top 100 results, one question that they asked every dj was:

"any new place which has a big, up and coming scene?"

Most popular answers:
-South America
-Canada
-Eastern Europe

which is ironic because the scene here is much smaller than it used to be.

even if we could draw a crowd big enough (in the tens of thousands) im sure the government wouldnt allow it.

Talk to me in the 90s and i would have said sure... but not these days.

You're talking about Toronto specifically, what's going on in Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary?

i know for a fact that vancouver is dry.. calgary doesnt have much happening. Its fair to say that montreal has a strong scene but is suspect that much of that is due to the government not budding into their affairs as they have here and out west.

Thanks, I didn't actually know.

You mentioned that you're heading to Argentina soon.... you seem to travel a lot. Is this for business or do you just vacation quite a bit.

see i cannot say from experience, but only from perception.

I think when people refer to the scene, its two different things:
quality
quantity

I think Toronto's quantity is growing. Amount of people, amount of big nights.

In terms of quality, well from talking to the old schoolers, it just cannot be compared.

^^^^ it's a different scene now, it's gone from raves to clubs. Both have advantages and disadvantages but the days of the massive parties are gone.

I think Toronto could host a large event....if you have big enough names for an event then you are going to get people coming from all over the place. There would definately be a draw of people from Montreal, Detroit, Buffalo, London, Winsdor, etc. Looke how many people came out to see Tiesto?

I don't see why Toronto could not host a 7,000 to 10,000 person event without a problem.
