Just try and remember that the money you are giving is going to struggling people who are trying?

I have no problem in paying taxes...it is part of what allows us to live the lifestyle we are use to.

What about those who are not trying and leeching off the system.
Or the gov't mishandling of tax payer dollars.

Huh? That's a classic Canadian Response.

Personally I would prefer to use the private sector and save on the taxes. With the inefficiency of government and the lack of responsibility, I feel that any money to them is a waste.

They tax me for services that I do not need and the ones I do need are crap. The public school system is crap, so is the health care, I guess it’s a form of unionization (less work for more pay). If anyone disagrees please inform me of some government supplied services that actually outperform the private sector.

Besides, it is not the social services that make this country great it’s the people. The culture of Canada was present before government taxation. This issue really makes me think about moving south. I will get a higher income with less income tax, less property tax and goods tax while at the same time purchase cheaper goods due to the lower corporate tax. The money I save can be used for insurance and I will still be in a better position.

True..the government does tax us for services we don't use...I pay education tax but I don't have a kid and I don't go to school. I agree that some things are better of being privatized however, you can't privatize everything that all levels of government collect taxes for. I would still rather pay my taxes and let the government work for me...then privatise everything and me having to find someone to do the work for me.

Private schools are becoming more popular every day and that is only due to the growing concerns of the failure in the public school system.

Montessori schools for example produce children 2-3 grade levels above public schools. I’m all for private schools, at least they have a competitive environment that requires them to perform for their funding.

And even if your child goes to private school you are still paying for education taxes. If people want to use private schools I am all for it....personally, if I have kids I will want them to goto private school. If you want to get rid of education taxes then you have to get rid of public schools and only have private schools available. Then you run into the problem where the rich get smart and the poor get no good jobs. You end up having people trying to home school their kids because they can't afford to pay for school. Then you end up with more people not getting the education they need which becomes a bigger drain because now you have to pay for them to live on welfare...which means taxes go up in order to cover those costs.
