What are you talking about????
There is nothing offensive about what I said.
I was only speaking the truth - the pioneers of house music were gay black men from Chicago. That is a part of history, dude.
Larry Levan, Frankie Knuckles, Jessie Saunders, Frankie Bones, Ron Hardy, Larry Heard, Marshall Jefferson, Derrick May.
OK, maybe not all of them were gay, but many of them were, and they most certainly were African-American.
Look up the history of clubs like Paradise Garage and the Warehouse (where the term "house" came from) if you don't believe me.
I assume that this thread is about the involvement of African-Americans in EDM, so i thought i would talk about the pioneers of one of the most influential genres of the past twenty years. |

You mean about house music and gay men from Chicago?
I'll give you that to an extent, but still, I guess I think dumbing down any genre of music to a stereotypical and blanket starting point really does the music itself an injustice...
Black people like EDM... So do gay folk, straight kids, yellow kids, white ones, and even this stripey lookin' fella I met once...
And it's not like house EXCLUSIVELY came from these two gay guys who lived in a flat on Michigan Ave. in Chicago...
Meh, whatever, I'm tired and I've been sick, time to get a little high and try to fall back asleep instead of bitching to the CORe...
:p
And for the record, A.J.: I wasn't trying to start an argument with you... I realize House has had a LOT to do with the gay community, and it's history is closely intertwined, but there is a LOT more to what house music is than the early Chicago house scene, sure they did a TON to promote and help the music grow and develop, and I'm certainly not saying they weren't "pioneers" in their own right, I just think there's more to it than that... your comment was valid for this thread, but my opinion still remains, this thread should be closed, and never should have been started in the first place... Or should at least have been titled/approached differently... a history of African American involvement in EDM would be cool... "Niggas and EDM" is just a rediiculase starting point... |
