*sigh*
such a great time for trance. i just finished listening to ferry at innercity from 99. sooo many memories. such an innocent sound to trance then. seemed to me to be a bit more playful. i love the sound of todays but i kinda miss the one hit bass. the "buh" sound after every kick. hah thats fun to listen to now. |

| I just posted in a different forum asking what people's favourite live sets were, and an overwhelming majority of them were from 1999. I guess it was a high point. |

yes, i cant stress it enough.. the 1999 essential mixes of paul oakenfold are ing awesome! any fan of trance definitely needs them |

| rather it SHOULD be common knowledge. some people new to the trance scene will be like paul oaken-WHO? i introduced some of the livesets o my friends (who are mainly house junkies) and they were blown away by it |

I was 15 in 1999, freshman year of high school, was not even remotely interested in music, not even aware of the wide world of EDM out there.
2000, sophmore year, the year of napster, was when I started getting into this, it wasnt until I was 17 that I knew enough about the music to realize that I was a trance addict and then found this place. I think the first significant thing I experienced the was the release of "Out there and Back" and all the "OMFG!" posts about it(before I had actually registered). Now that I know the release dates of so many of the songs that I enjoyed I realize that a lot of them are from this 1999 era.
I dont see very many OMFGIDIE posts anymore, is it because the catch phrase got old or because no more songs are OMFGworthy? I really miss that, somebody would come home from a party and get all hyped about some song they heard and they would post about it, then 15 other people would also agree that the song made them "die".
But all we do is complain now, not that there wasnt any complaining back when people were all "omfgidie" but it was tolerable because there were still people who were excited about the music who also posted.
