Juricimo - hehe, d00d you should have SEEN how much off-roading i did in that lowered-GTI with 18's.... of the 15,000 miles i drove in 6 weeks, i probably did about 400 miles of that off-road... (and i mean climbing, descent, big rocks :whip: :whip:

but the ABT-mobile held up like a charm! :)

WHats the brawn inside ur car ABT? It would be a shame jus to LOOK nice but not be all that!

MY mate has the best car in the UK. UK people look out for it in Fast Car and Max Power soon!

IT originally started life as just a BMW 318. Then he had it slightly modified with a REALLY nice body kit and some mettalic black paint.

I didn't see him for a whil, then he came back and showed me it. :eyes:

It sports these specs: HKS Turbocharger, Twin Turbo Exausts, Nitrous Injection System, BMW Motorsport twin 5 spoke 20" alloys, HKS bodykit.
He's replaced the boot (trunk to Americans) with another one that is the same style as the Nissan Skyline GT-R. Some wings like the Mitsubishi EVO VI, and the bonnet has also been replaced with one like an EVO VI too. It has three tone green paint (!) and on the inside of the wheelguard (I 'm not sure what its called) there are green l.e.d.s.

Horsepower : from 160 to 327.

Has a white leather interiior, 5 Pioneer TV screens,PS2, DVD and Harmon Kardon CD Stereo system, with Alpine speakers. Inside of boot also has coloured lights. There is a 5% tint on the windows too.

These are the details that I remember, so don't quote me on anything! Oh and it might be in the Wu Tang Clan's new music video, and the Fast and Furious 2 might have his car as the main car. :eyes:

TDi's are excellent, definitely if you can find one, grab one ;)
as far as the early 90's, that was what we call "generation 2" as far as bodystyle... (i.e. Jetta II, Golf II, etc...) For the most part these are decent cars, but any poor ownership experience can ruin any car.... just make sure whatever car you look at, the oil changes were done every 3k, the belts were replaced every 60k, and the timing chain(s) every 100k..... basically, the mileage won't matter as long as the owner always did the necessary maintenance. :)

If you have any more specific questions regarding a specific car you're looking at, you can PM me more and i'll be glad to help as best i can :)

Hi there. I have a 1992 GTI. It happens to be a great car considering how I drive it. I abuse it consistently and the motor does not quit. I would say if you find one w/ high miles and original parts then chances are they will conk out on you. My car has just cracked 200,000 clicks and it is breaking down left right and centre but I cannot complain because I have changed the following:

Alternator (original OEM) @ 201,000 kms
Battery @ 195,000kms
Shocks @ 190,000 kms (I didn't need all 4 but I said hell w/ it I wanted to lower the car so I had waited long enough 4 these to blow out. These were the originals that came with car)
Water pump @ 185,000
Handbrakes are the only parts I really go through alot of (I am on number 5).

Otherlittle things but nothing really major. Stay away from 16valves if they have alot of miles and are obviously neglected. You'll pay insurance for a perfromance car that does not perfrom. The 16v is great if maintained. They are sensitive though and I have driven some that pull harder than Corrados and I have also driven some that pull less than an abused 8v Golf or Jetta. My GTI is an 8v. In my opinion it is the most reliable in terms of engine strength and endurance. They do have their quirks and some are lemons. The 1991 is probably the best GTI you can get. I wish I bought one from 1991. They were still made in Germany.1992 switched prod to Mexico. My mechanic deals with \X/'s only and he is generally very impressed by the way mine has held out. Some are true gems (mine is definitely since I drive it like a rental and it does not quit). Some are . Whatever you do...if you are serious about the car you intend to buy have it checked by a dealer or independant mechanic (may save you tonnes and help you negotiate down the price).

Also, (sorry for the long post) go to JWelty.com you can learn alot about what makes these cars tick in the forums.

Good luck.
