My Holden @ Spirit Review

Of course I'm partial, so anything that comes out of my mouth will be skewed, but here we go anyway:
Got in at about 11:30. Holden's on stage spinning. Crowd starts to fill up and Holden brings the energy up a bit. Very enjoyable opening set. I liked every minute of it. The best way I could describe it was very dark, very moody music. Everyone seemed to be enjoying it, as way I. I have no idea why some people are saying it sucked.
Anyway, 1:30 rolls around and Damian comes on. At first he brought it back down, then at about 2 o'clock he becomes relentless, just like the way he played down in Miami for WMC. During this whole time however, we weren't sure if Holden was going to come back on, so I decided to track him down and ask him myself. He was on the 2nd floor bar chilling out with his manager plus an extra. After he told me he was coming back on at 3:30, we caught up on music and life. Turns out he did a remix for Depeche Mode that should be coming out soon, that is if DM's people don't like it and gets rejected like Britney's remix did. I believe he dropped it at the end of the night, but I'm not really sure since nobody knows what it exactly sounds like. This has been his busiest year so far even though his residency at Mazzo ended since the club closed down.
Holden comes back on @ 3:30, spins until 5, then tag teams with Lazarus until closing time. I kept dancing the whole time I was there (well, more like half the time since I was checking out this really hot blond with a red top on and a nice tatoo on her right arm...my god, so hot).
Again, I have no idea what everyone was talking about when they say that the night sucked. Granted, it wasn't the best Holden set I've ever heard (nothing can match BED), but it certainly wasn't Suck City. I hope he comes back soon and to Cielo.

PS. Holden's staying here until Thursday night. We're chilling out at Canal Room on Wednesday night to hear Superpitcher. Everyone should stop by. |

| Glad you had a good time man. Last time he was @ Spirit, I kinda fell asleep on the upper level and was woken up by a security guard. Never did that before :-/ |
