seriously i get way too competitive when i play chess. i don't like what it does to me. online chess can be a real poisonous atmosphere, where nerds unleash all their bottled up hate and insecurities. it can be quite unpleasant. just remember there are no "friendly games of chess" |

Too bad chess.net lost its freeware status.. Spent quite a bit of time there some time ago. Might get a look into other recommendations done here.

oh snaps jason! i love chess...i suck, but yeah i love it. well...i guess i don't suck, but i'm definitely not anything above avg in skill. dude, we def gotta play drinking chess next time we're heading out for a night. i started doing that up at unc and you take a shot every time you get a piece captured(obvious rules i know). makes for a really good predrinking game before going out....that is if you can handle doing about 6 to 8 shots before heading out to drink even more:thepirate unless you have mad skillz and only lose 2 to 3 pieces per game...i like to lose my whole army when i play, so i've noticed.
maybe we'll have you take half a shot...or a drink of beer/mixed drink:disbelief |

by cheating you mean using a computer chess program to shadow your game and suggest the best move? I never knew that went on. Seems like a lot of trouble for a win. Don't see the logic in it because it would be a hollow victory. I thought the whole point of chess was to prove to others and yourself of your mental superiority. |
