i think its more that he has a specific audience to play for...if you listen to the live to airs he is actually a pretty good dj. Aside from the the fact that most people on here dont like the tunes he plays. but i would say that his skills as a djs are up there. he puts togeather good sets and his tranistions (often cross genere) are generally pretty smooth. plus he knows how to rock the crowd.
its also guys like danny d that help the scene grow and regenerate with fresh n00bs. All it takes is for some 15 year old kid to hear a tiesto tune and type tiesto into a P2P. All off a sudden he is exposed to all sorts of options. Armin, Ferry, Magik Music, Blackhole, ect ect. Then by the time that kid turns 19 and is able to go to the clubs, he will be sick of the euro and into the good stuff! :D |

i've had the unfortuate experience of being at splash a few times b4, and sometimes he will drop a decent tune (ie. deep dish - say hello, jose nunez - bilingual, etc.) but i think its a far stretch to put him in the 'pretty good' category...more like decent at best, his transitions are nothing specatular, but sometimes he'll pull a decent one out. my biggest pet peeves are his very annoying use of effects. the typical no effort turntable scratch transition effect from euro to hip hop. and the abuse of the siren noise. |
