Your opinions of the Toronto "scene"

Helloo,

Just wanted to get a general idea of what Montrealers think of T.O. I know there was some threads saying that many TOTAs are weird and really dont know the music (I'm not denying that)..and I know we just had the Hawtin, Cox, Maas, Corsten event which is rare because they keep recycling Armin down here. But what do you think in terms of the parties, scene and people here (TAs) compared to MTL?

Too many 50 year old Asians cracked out, standing around and being china town.

Too many pushy Ginos and clubbers that just keep walking around and pushing you rudely.

Atmosphere is nothing compared to the laid back, relaxed and friendly you get in Montreal.

This is only based off three journeys to Guvernment.

An important factor to keep in mind...

then you don't have a basis to comment on the toronto "scene" at all.

I think the rave scene from the 90s is dead... I'm from Vancouver and I know it's pretty much dead there. I know back in the late 90s Toronto had some great "raver" parties that my friends went to...

3 times is enough for me... I don't need to go over and over again to see how it sucks. My friends that I party with in Montreal went to Boa and weren't impressed with the crowd either.

Unfortunately my impression of Toronto is that of Vancouver... too many club superstars standing around looking pretty or Asians looking gangster and trying to be cocky and cool.

it's not the number of visits, it's the different parts of the scene here that you make a point of experiencing.

you can go to guv and hear mark oliver 100 times, still doesn't mean you can really say anything about the "scene" here!

(sorry - it just drives me nuts to hear people refer to the scene in toronto as guvernment and system and that's it)

I've gone to Aria many times and have always found the crowd to be sketchy and anonymous.

does that mean it sucks? No... does that mean your scene sucks? No...

It just means I was in a club in a different city and felt slightly out of place and was skeptical of everything and everyone. If the crowd sucks, sometimes it is because you just dont feel a part of it like you would in your hometown.

You know what sucks? this debate. let it go. we have two totally different scenes, and we should be happy that they are within driving distance of one another!!

i believe toronto doesnt have a scene..i mean technically it does but ginos who come to an event because they think its the place to be and couldnt care less if the DJ played Liebing or DJ Sammy doesnt say much...asians who come chill and do drugs all day is just funny...club heroes all dressed up because they do not like hip hop doesnt mean anything...strict by laws limiting evennts and different types of events...theres a small following but not enough for a "scene"

Most ignorant thing I've ever read in this forum...and that says a lot!

Do you think people don't do drugs in Montreal or something? We don't have a single club that stays open as late for as long as stereo does. Having a nightclub open until the late morning or afternoon just encourages drug use to keep the party going.

there are people who dont know anything about the music in EVERY city, believe it or not.
