American Music Channels (MTV, VH-1) and Trance?

I wonder if anyone has noticed this. They never discuss techno or trance on MTV or VH-1. MTV is all about hip-hop and rap, and VH-1 is all about rock, classical or alternative.

It's funny how they say in the VH-1 commercial: "We do the music justice." Haha. Justice my ass... :D

the first time I ever heard Robert Miles-Children was when I was in Dublin watching Euro Mtv back in spring of 96. So they do know about trance...its just not mainstream enuff here for them to be giving it air time.

I just came back from amsterdam a week ago and was thinking the same thing. I got to see trance, house and techno stuff on TMF, MTV and some other chanel. Pretty sad that we don't get to see alot of good videos instead of crap by brittany spears and that freak christina aguillera( i don't know if i spelled it good)

Mtv is just one big soap opera
have more in common with VH1 than damn mTV ... ugh, getting old!

I remember Mtv used to have a show for two hours where they played various videos such as Chemical Brothers, Dust Brothers...blah blah blah...called AMP. Mostly Tec. Ah well, TV is bad for ya n e wayz ;)

If you get MTV 2 they still run AMP on Friday or Saturday night, I can't remember which one. I saw it a few weeks ago and they had stuff thet even stumped me, stuff I had never heard.

AMP on MTV has been around for some time. Seeing one of Future Sound Of London's video's on AMP was what got me into trance music. I dont recall the title of the track but there was a girl running through the streets of some town and everything around here was going twice as fast. Matt Pinfield used to host it. Ive seen some amazing videos on Amp dating back to atleast 1997..

William Orbit - Barbers Adagio for Strings
Paul Van Dyk - For an Angel, Tell me Why, We are Alive, Another Way
Fluke - Absurd
Crystal Method - Keep hope Alive, Busy Child, Comin back
Chemical Brothers - Setting Sun, BLOCK ROCKIN BEATS!!!!!!!!
Jondi & Splesh - We are Connected

Paul Van Dyk was on MTV one time talking about the drug scene and how he prefers a glass of water over everything else at a club. Theres also that show they used to play every week called Ultra Sound and the intro to the show was Pvd's - Words.

ALL i have to say is GOOOOOOODDDD....keep our music as far away from MTV and TRL crap as possible.....keep it to ourselves or it will be RUINED....trust me !!!!

Hey Brooks, Flight 643 has been making some progress on the radio, i can imagine it being on TRL battling Britney and Alicia Keyes for the number one spot on the charts.

please please please
again i say PLEASE DO NOT hope this music goes mainstream via MTV, VH-1 let alone the airwaves. The radio is the first to play out a song, if it were to make it to the TV, I would have to say nothing more than justice for our culture. There are only a handful of listener's out there who appreciate the music and not jump on the bandwagon because it is the thing everyone is doing. Televising our culture's God must go with representation and less stereotypical criticism. The rave culture is often categorized as a drug environment. And the rave culture's main focus is the appreciation of music and the celebration of it under one roof, together we share the same experience, unity. If this were to hit the mainstream communication lines, I would protest nothing more than justice. If you think about it, the world is "STEREOTYPING" our culture, and at the same time protesting the use of stereotypes in race and religion. They see the rave culture as a world of drug use. This is not fair. I would be highly disturbed if our Music/my religion were to shared amongst unappreciable viewers who make stereotypes about our culture. If you are going to Televise us, give us respect for what we believe in....
