Ontario to copy U.S. on daylight time

Globe and Mail Update
Toronto — The Ontario government plans to follow the lead of the United States by extending daylight time in the province by four weeks, beginning in March, 2007.
Attorney General Michael Bryant announced in the legislature today that Ontario is making the move because of its “extensive and inextricable links” to the United States.
The U.S. government passed a law last summer as part of an omnibus energy bill that, among other things, extends daylight time by four weeks starting in March, 2007.
Daylight time falls under provincial jurisdiction, and several other provinces are also considering following the U.S. lead.
“Now I want to make it clear,” Mr. Bryant said in a prepared statement. “Ontario does not automatically move in lock step with the U.S. on this or any issue.”

Heaven forbid we actually agree with anything them Americans are up to...
I'm sure it has absoultely NOTHING to do with how much we export to the States........naaaaa....

He said the decision to harmonize the province's daylight time with the United States followed a review by a government committee into the potential impact such a move could have on Ontario.
The committee found that any misalignment with the province's biggest trading partner could have a very real and negative impact, including trade disruption as well as creating border pressures.

A negative impact at the border...wow...where did this brainiac come from??

The extra hour of daylight in the afternoon will also provide a much needed chance to encourage children to play sports outside, rather than watch television, after school, Mr. Bryant said.

How the hell did he keep a straight face saying this??

It could also reduce pedestrian injuries and fatalities, he added.

Wow...the whirlwind behind this speach should really get a promotion...

LOL yeah those reason are funny... Guess it might help those dumbasses who actually elected these dubasses to think this is a good decision ;)
But yeah, it's a great decision. It will be kinda weird tho if not all the Canadian provinces follows it. |
