ive just hooked me jp8080 up but how do i map it into cubase sx 3? i used to use fruity but have moved onto cubase can anybody help?

what do you mean with "map it into cubase" ?

You can choose presets & send notes ... to it via midi in cubase, if you have an audiocard that has analogue inputs , you can receive the outgoing singal (almost realtime if the latency allows it ) ...

that's about it ... so what exactly are you looking for ?

You only need to map in order to change the JP presets within cubase.....tbh theres no need for it, just change presets through your synth !!

With my jp i set just use the headphones to play a tune record the midi then re-record the jp. I have yet to figuer out how to get it to play live like a real vst. If thats possible.

The JP8xx0 is a hardware synth not a VST instrument.

It really isn't rocket science to set up your JP in cubase.......

Plug the audio jacks from the JP into your soundcard (Audio In), set up a new device in cubase named "JP8000" or whatever...then, add a new MIDI track to the sequencer and choose "JP8000" as the In/Output, that is the MIDI sorted.

If you want to record the audio that the JP is playing via MIDI......add a new audio track into cubase and hit the little "record" tab on that track, then hit the main record button on the transport bar.....you should then be recording the audio playing via the MIDI track within cubase.....The same procedure counts for all hardware synths btw !

you can use the new "external instrument" feature in cubase sx 3.1. this allows you to use it like any other VST instrument..
