who thinks we need a "whats on" thread where people post which events are coming up and maybe some rumor tours ect.

thoughts?

how bout a monthly thread, cause it gets pretty cluttered if its all in just one
i mean all you have to do is sticky and then unsticky and it slowly drifts off into oblivion
stamper
Thats a great idea.

From memory a few years back we had a thread like that which was stickied and that worked really well.

Would that mean you cant have a thread to discuss one particular event?

thats where it gets tricky, its used as a reference as to which parties are on ect, it can be used to stamp out people just joining to post their events and not contribute to any other part of ta.

That could work, i was kinda thinking of just updating the first post with event details, maybe a monthly thing would work better.

Without event threads though, it might get a tad quiet in here. I mean, if you start including things like Gods, Slinky, Two Tribes, even DJ tours like Sasha etc there would be quite a few less threads.

While that might be the idea, i think it would probably cut the number too much. ANd then do people discuss or post reviews etc in that same thread? Cos it might get a bit hard to follow if people are posting reviews etc in there or people start rabbiting on about how they are all excited about an upcoming event. Or do you draw the line and say big events are allowed their own threads, while club events have to go in the group one. But then some big events are club events (Slinky for example), so where do you draw the line? And big DJ tours, for example your Darren Tate thread, where should that go? Is it going to have to be a case of people having to pm you to seek permission to post a thread on an upcoming event because they don't know which category it falls under.

Also, with the balance of Melbourne:Sydney:Adelaide events, Adelaide events especially may get lost in that thread by just being swamped by Melbourne events etc. (I'm ignoring Perth and Brisbane, because they post probably even less event threads than Adelaide, and thats bloody saying something!!)

^^Thats probably the main problem with the idea of a reference thread, that and people going "Woot, awesome!" for 5 pages after someone posts that DJ Cheesemaster Elite is touring.

I don't see too much wrong with how it is at the moment, its not as if its out of control atm, as long as people use the Self-promo thread when appropriate I don't think theres a problem.

Sounds like a good idea... keep a thread sticky, and have people only replying with what events are coming up
and in addition to that, the first post of the thread should like say what's on for the next week or fortnight for different cities (so you dont have to go browsing through the entire thread to find what's on) with link to the post and thread if there's a thread for the event too

definitely keep the threads for events going, just like they are now

i agree with Nutter

where the poll at jolz?

yeh, an events sub-forum (not just a sticky thread) is needed. kinda like how the TOTA's have set up their forums.

as for lack of discussion coz all the events are moved, not really. i think it encourages further discussion and people who want to find out what's on know where to go instead of sifting through the random topics (and vice versa). a sub-forum (as opposed to a sticky thread) will do away with most of what nutter is talking about anyway.
