I am looking for a free/shareware LINE-IN recorder. Reliable, small, compact, NO spyware, NO nags.
It must be able to directly export/save as MP3.
What can you recommend? Total Recorder is bloated crap with nags, and CDWave requires a separate MP3 plug-in to export to MP3s. |

check out audacity
its open source, virus free, and can export to mp3 using the LAME dll file
google or check audacity.sourceforge.net to DL it |

thank you,
now does the MP3 encoder come bundled with it automatically? Or do you have to download it separately?
because it's important for me to have everything together in one bundle for convenience sake. |

| I am pretty sure you need to download LAME separately, but in my opinion, there is no better free alternative to Audacity. It is rock solid everytime. |

its not Free cause i dont go for Free stuffs when its for cheap.
i am using Record-Anything™ (Mini Recorder) I Purchased it at 18$. it fits on the system tray. you can use Line-in and more input options. it supports VRB recording too. IT Records Directly to MP3 format. no conveter need. does not put load on the desktop/laptop.
Search it in Google you will find for even cheaper.
Try the demo if you think i am wrong dont buy.
Never usesd Audacity, will try that for sure..

| Yeah right, you must be plain stupid to pay 18 dollars for just a added MP3 encoder, you can get LAME for free too. I would say download Audacity and LAME and you're good to go. 2 Programs, can you handle that? |

Your post is really insulting. There's no need to say people are stupid just because you don't agree with their choice.

Hello all
After everyone talking about Audacity with LAME. i had to check it.
Here the what i found out (my point of view)
When u start recording,it Saves in .au or .wav format on your computer in Temp Dir.
\Local Settings\Temp\audacity_1_2_temp
Taking Up space on your Computer, than you have to use the export option to make it MP3.
Pro
1)FX
2)Different Format converting
3)meter level
4)Tools
5) OPEN SOURCE
Cons
1) taking up space when Recording
2) Using 6% of your memory (RAM)
3) NO VRB Support.
4) hummmmm..... No only 3 according to me.
Joost : Different people Different thinking. Its not your Fault that you think i am a stup but you should know one think buddy. GIVE RESPECT AND YOU SHALL GET RESPECT.
I think Record-Anything™ (Mini Recorder) Works Perfectly Fine for me.
any other Software alike you are welcome to post it,
Thanks all
