last week they publish this picture of Rice

this week, after extensive reader feedback, the re-publish this

with an editors note.| quote: | | Editor's note: The photo of Condoleezza Rice that originally accompanied this story was altered in a manner that did not meet USA TODAY's editorial standards. The photo has been replaced by a properly adjusted copy. Photos published online are routinely cropped for size and adjusted for brightness and sharpness to optimize their appearance. In this case, after sharpening the photo for clarity, the editor brightened a portion of Rice's face, giving her eyes an unnatural appearance. This resulted in a distortion of the original not in keeping with our editorial standards |
horse! what if they did this to Barack Obama or any leading African American in office? the NAACP or National Black Caucus would want heads to roll. but noooo! they get a pass. why? |

Condi's black? :D
Well when Obama gets into the office and receives as much press time as Rice does, then we'll talk and compare.;)
I hardly ever read USAToday anymore. They tend to be pretty even keeled on most stuff, though not always. They just don't seem to be very quick at breaking any headline stories, however. I'm not sure they ever were too quick on the draw.
I have to admit that pic is downright scary. Those eyes are just, just, just, uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
hhhhhhhhhhhhhh....................
yes, there are WMDs in Iraq........
Saddam did bomb us on 9/11........
We're making progress.......we're making progress........it's hard work........aluminum tubes used for nuclear WMDs.....progress.......Syria's next.........
must get my own radio talkshow or Fox to spread the word................ |

Yes, this is silly, but give the torture bull a rest, wouldja? Haven't heard any outcries about the much more serious systematic torture that was going on in Iraq under Saddam. |

Well, your president refuses to condome torture that's serious enough (see that other thread). Plus when did I ever say Saddam did anything good? The reason why that's never a debate, is simply because no one disagrees with that statement. Its like with north Korea, we all pretty much agrees he's a lot worse than any other person on earth. And I'm pretty sure if someone came in here from north Korea whineing about some ing picture in a newspaper that doesnt matter at all you would think he had better things to care about, no? |

Condone or condemn? I've heard him condemn it and frankly I wouldn't want to hear him condone it.
As far as Saddam, I never said you claimed he did anything good, but I don't hear you condemning the things he did which pale in comparison to what you're accusing the current administration of doing, despite investigations that have come to substantially different conclusions than what you're implying. |

From occriders thread:
| quote: | | On Tuesday, White House press secretary Scott McClellan said, "The president's made our position very clear: We do not condone torture, nor would he ever authorize the use of torture." |
Anyway, the reason why my "condemning of Saddam" is so "pale" in comparasion to the Bush admin, is simply because no person here, has EVER defended saddam when it comes to issues such as torture. On the other hand, there are PLENTY of ppl here constantly defending this administration for actions, not as bad but still bad. That's why it is actually a discussion about it, and that's also why it seems that ppl like me actually would think Saddam is better than Bush, while he's obviously not.
You want me to start a thread where I can condemn all bad things in this world?! :p Point is that it wouldn't create any discussion, at all, cause everyone would agree about 97% of hte things. |
