Maybe time to stop trying?

I've been trying to make music since buying the very first Reason and still I suck!
A while back I brought FruityLoops/Z3ta/Vanguard & Hydra, leaned them read a load of stuff on music theory and synthesis, but still my level of production is that of someone who has been doing it a day. Everything sounds so "off balance" and wrong. I guess I just have no rhythm. Even after 5 years of mixing I still cannot beat mix lolol. |

Ask yourself:
Are you doing this because you like it?
I've just really started getting into production as well. A lot of my friends (who are all djs) are also very interested in it. I spend a lot of time on it because the feeling once you make something you like is wonderful!
If you enjoy doing it, try reading the writer's block thread and also try to replicate stuff that you hear professional artists do.
Good Luck! |

Exactly.
If you enjoy doing it, then why should you stop?
If you don't enjoy it, why are you doing it in the first place? |

Insanity is caused by trying to get different results by doing the same thing.
Actively find ways you could improve. I don't believe for a second that you aren't capable of improving, although I am not aware of your mental state.
Read + practice.

If you are making music for fun or because you really like doing it, I don't see any reason why you should be at the level where the "pros" are.
Unless you are extremely anxious - almost like every new producer nowadays - to make that "killer" track (*cough*), signed at Armada, get played on ASOT and make a lot of money, I would understand your concern... |

Ask yourself how hard you tryed to learn composing/producing/sampling.
If you where to rate your effort in the scale from 1 to 10 how much would you give yourself?
I am talking about effort not the result.
If you would give yourself a 9 ,you tryed & put all your heart and soul into it but it didn't work ( ''I tryed so much but I guess am not cut for it'' :( ) then quit.
Find something you like and you are good at!;)
But if you honestly give youself a 2 then maybe you should be try harder.
Its not going to magicly happen just like puberty takes place when you hit thirteen.
You have to WORK towards it.
''Work'' is the key word.
As others pointed find music you like and try to make your sound like that.
Its a good approach that produses results!
You will at least figure out what you like and work towards producing it.
Even if you cant recreate it ,you will have a goal that will motivate you.
Eventually, because all humans are different, the music you will make will sound unique!
Ank for s sakes beatmixing happens with practice.
Spend a couple of hours tonight and get it down without giving lame excuses to yourself
(I dont have natural rhythm...BS!)
LEARN! TRY! NOW! NO-LAME-EXCUSES!:whip:
Dont leave your decks unless you have succeded.:whip:
(Off topic tip: dont touch the platter learn to ride the pitch:D ) |

| i've asked my self that question but i realized it wasn't that i didn't enjoy producing, it was the fact that i have serious anxiety problems and its been making my whole life a mess for while now |
