Interesting Statistic...

A study whose results were mentioned in today's Slate (http://www.slate.com/id/2128818?nav=wp) had the following interesting statistic:
79% of Americans between 25 and 29 had had zero or one sexual partners over the past year, and the same was true for a significant (often larger) majority of Americans of all ages
Admittedly this is from 1992, but I don't believe anything has changed significantly. The vast majority of young Americans are either celibate, or only have one partner (committed relationship)! |

| You can't argue with formal statistics. Just goes to show you a lot of what you believe is exaggerated. |

uh yes i can...especially when they are over ten years old...
that's like saying...
well in the 1950's people didn't really use many drugs...so they must not have used many drugs in the 1960's... |

Well, if you don't believe it, just look at the members of this forum. I claim that the majority of them (say 60%) are virgins. And then of the remainder, only 10% probably had sex in the past month -- the rest aren't virgins, but haven't had sex in a while. |

yeah... well 2 things here
1.) a typical evolution chart says alpha males sleep w/ 80% of the women within a society/pack and beta males will only sleep w/ the other 20%
so reading that nerds aren't getting laid doesnt' surprise me and the fact they have the same partner just shows lack of options.
lack of options reverts them to sleep w/ the same 5 or 6 girls their ENTIRE LIFE.
the funny part is those guys who sleep w/ 5 or 6 think they're being SELECTIVE. haha, too in proud and total in bull |

Well as has been demonstrated, the midwest Jesusland holds the majority in America. |
But the shocking thing is that this fact actually DOES influence the sexual lives of young Americans. You'd think, based on the hysterical media reports and stuff like 'Girls Gone Wild', that young people would be oblivious to that, because they're all horny and they don't care what the grownups say.
Yet the study is so fascinating because it shows that the American culture, irrespective of politics, actually IS sexless. |

i think if there is any truth in this number its because of a large majority of married young couples would probably fall into that age range...i don't think that has anything else to do with the social prevelance of sex...
also i don't agree with your assumptions based on the TA population. i don't think they are accurate at all... |
