given that the guy has been spinning vinyl for 20+ years, it might have been a little harder for him than alot of new age djs who are more adept to todays technology. |
I decided to quote a TA because Mattivi's point erases a lot of the misconceptions that Tiesto is not a great mixer on the decks.
Here is an October 2005 video on him using vinyl. As usual the mixing is superb. Eventually he will master the art of mixing on CD's

| He seems to be adjusting a bit slower than most of the other tried and true DJs, yet everyone will still vote him in the top 5 of any DJ poll done. Just goes to show that legacy is more important than current performance. |

What are you on about?! Not if you are used to doing something a specific way for a huge amount of time. Thats like saying, well how can you not ride a motorcycle, it moves for you (instead of pedaling a bike). Everything, when its new to you, takes some time getting used to. |

| It doesn't matter if cdjs are easier or harder than vinyl. The fact of the matter is that dozens, hundreds, probably thousands of DJs have succesfully transitioned (pun intended) to CDs. Yet for some reason everyone cuts tijs all this slack just because "he's #1" :rolleyes: Nobody's saying he should be perfect at everything, we're saying its retarded to still consider him to be "the best" when he consistently fails to mix. |

if hes sooo much better with vinyl, but wants the accesibility for tunes like cds he needs to quit bitching anf get FS2 or Serato Scratch.

| well then he should have put more time in the learning process, not just change hardware and continue, practice first (+ he knew cds were going to take over vinyl eventually someday so he had years to practice) |

| haha, learning curve! it takes about 2 mins to get the hang of it. and it's easier to make corrections that aren't noticeable than with vinyl |

| I can cue up and beatmatch vinyl in 10-20 seconds, and it's perfect. I've been playing with Pio 1000's for that last few months and I'm nowhere near the same calibre as with decks. |

soo true! and, please remember, tiesto is not god or something, he is just a normal DJ hyped to the max... so he is allowed to have problems sometimes... he has my sympathies now, because he obviously is honest about his mixing.. |

ive found mixing on tt's far easier than cd.
Something about the resistance on the pitch fader on tt's, that its actually a mechanical process (to some extent) that isnt on CD decks (for the most part) is what gets me.
But its still fairly easy. |
