Fruity stutter problem

Have just noticed that when I press stop on the transport bar in FL Studio 5.2, that I get a stutter effect and then again when I press play. The CPU level is only 34 so it can't be that. Any ideas or has anybody else had this problem?

PC - AMD 64 - 3000+/1gb DDR400RAM/ 160gb SATA 150 HDD/ Audiophile 2496 PCI Card.

When I press stop, it sounds like its digitally stuck on the same note, it plays it about 8 times in a row like over say two beats and then stops. Its like its stuck or something.

Somebody help us out its doing my f*cking tree right in!

mine does it too, i assumed it was my soundcard but it isn't... whenever i have a significant number of vst's or effects loaded, wether they are playing or not, the sound is choppy whenever you hit play/stop in fruity. running a p4 3ghz, 2 gig of ram, decent mobo, m-audio delta 1010lt etc... bit of a pain in the ass really.

Maybe check the buffer underruns? It can happen if you loaded your project full with VSTi's that your buffer may underrun like hell when setting the buffer time very low (or hardware buffering off).

I have just re-installed fruity, my soundcard drivers and spent the last 3 hours tuning and tweaking my system for audio usage and its still doing the stutter thing! I have noticed though when I chaned the buffer size and made it smaller, went right down to 64 samples the stutter gets closer together, until it sounds like a buzz at 64.

Any ideas as to what might be causing this?? I have an Audiophile 2496 card BTW.

Thx.
