Hi,
Can anybody please tell me if the Audiophile 2496 has a DirectX 9.0C (with the emphasis on "C") driver or not?!
I intend to replace my SB card with the Audiophile 2496, but I still want to be able to play NBA Live 06 (my favorite game) perfectly. Thing is that NBA Live 06 according to its sytem requirements apparently requires a sound card with DirectSound support and DirectX 9.0C compatible driver so can anybody PLEASE tell me if the Audiophile 2496 has this or not?! Which version of DX9 does it have?! What's difference between DX9B vs DX9C by the way?
I hope somebody with this card can tell me this by checking on your PC for this info cause I couldn't find that info on the M-Audio website! Thanks very, very much!! :) |

I don't believe you need a directX driver for sound :conf:
anyway my games play good on my audiophile (counter strike source) |

The NBA Live 06 system requirements say:
- Sound card with DirectSound support and DirectX 9.0c compatible driver!!!! (go to http://www.nba-live.com/nba2006/index.php and scroll down to see the system requirements!)
Does anybody have the Audiophile 2496 with latest update and could you please check if it has a DX9.0C driver cause M-Audio website doesn't mention it. I really need to know this so please help me with this! Thanks alot!! |

Hey. I would be most certainly shocked if it didnt work. Generally, you install a driver for your sound card first and then when you play a game, DirectX talks to that driver. DirectX isnt something that is hardware dependant, its just a set of instructions that say how stuff should sound, such as reflections of sounds bouncing off of a basketball court. As I remember, the only thing updated in 9.0C from 9.0B was better and newer shader support (for graphics). Most likely, what they are saying is that you have to have DX9.0C installed on your system and to cover thier ass, they say your card has to be compatible. It isnt that there probably are any modern cards that arent compatible, but they dont want to have to give money back to some guy thats trying to run a card from 1993.
Cheers,
