Rove lives to die another day....Opus grins, but I'm sure it's a bit bittersweet at this point...all pretty much as expected.

woa.

HA!
Two out of three ain't bad at all. And I didn't need to quote some redundantly long source to make my prediction unlike most of you big players.

But lets not jump the gun here...

Prosecutor to seek Libby indictment
If he is indicted, Libby -- a major player in the Bush White House -- is expected to step down from his post.

I could very well be 3 for 3! PM me for my address to deliver my prize occrider.

I'd hardly call him a major player though. Vice President's chief of staff? They'll replace him overnight.

And Libby has now resigned....developing.

Whoop! Well some people are going to milk this for all its worth for as long as possible but without Rove I don't see this being the last straw armageddon many were hoping for.

Well as much as I'd love to see Rove go down right now with Libby, I'd much prefer to see what Fitzgerald has exactly in mind for him. We'll wait and see when he gives his speech today at 2:00.

I think the last minute deals by Rove's lawyers with Fitz probably had something to do with it. It seems Fitz offered him to accept some lesser charges on Wednesday, and Rove turned it down. Then his lawyers jumped in last night to save his ass. All speculation from leaks, of course, but considering Fitz is now turning his attention to the forged Niger documents from Italy, this is becoming extremely interesting.

I've got this aching notion that Rove likely gave him some juicy info. at the last minute to investigate a bit further and save his ass. Again, news leaks point to Fitz asking for more time, and asking for a new grand jury. But then again, Rove is pretty fiercly loyal, so it's hard to tell.

We'll know more in a couple of hours, but most analysts on either side (including on Fox) feel this is probably just the beginning. And that makes me sport wood.:D

Well I bet that makes Mrs. Opus happy. Maybe you're not far off from having a bunch of little Opie machines running around...:p

CBSNews confirms a new grand jury has been created, and that Rove is far from out of the woods:

President Bush's top political adviser Karl Rove escaped charges for the time being but will remain under investigation by a new grand jury.

Because when CBS News says something, it must be true...

I couldn't resist.

On a tangent....Fitzgerald gives some of the WORST baseball analogies I have ever heard. EVA!

Can I get a transcript of that attempted analogy he just threw out there about hitting the batter in the head???

Yeah, that was kinda bad. But on a serious note, Fitz is one tightlipped boy. And I also see why nearly everyone who knows him thinks pretty highly of him - he concentrated entirely on the law and what he was legally able to do.

What's also interesting to note is that he did indicate that he's not finished, though it seems like he wishes he was. He also indicated that he charged Libby because Libby obstructed his way to getting to the truth, and that he (Fitz) was still investigating the truth.

That leaves the door open to so many, many wonderful things.....

Yeah--wonderful in your eyes. But let's be honest, there is nothing wonderful about negative events. Unless of course they happen to people you don't like.... So yeah, wonderful in your eyes, but bad for Amerrrika.
