Or you just just play with stuff until you get a completely different sound than what you started with. That's generally the way it works.

its pretty easy to do this though. just turn every dial so its fully closed (or in the case of oscillator tuning/LFO parameters, set to its zero point (in the middle of the dial). turn off all effects. just make sure everything is on zero. save it as tabula_rasa.fxp (a cubase preset format) and every time you want to go back to a blank template just load the fxp. easy.

You can select the 'default' settings for some VST instruments by either doing this (on all buttons/knobs)


CTRL + Left Mouse

Or press:

Double Click on Left Mouse


Note: this doesn't work for all plugins, though it's a neat trick ;)
