Humming noise

Hey,
I just tried connecting my PCV275 and 2 CDJ800s to my dads sound system.
I tried playing music through it, and for some reason there's this humming sound coming out of the speakers. I'm connecting the mixer, to the phono in, in the receiver. I tried google without luck.
If i raise the volume in the mixer and lower the volume in the receiver, the noise gets quieter, if I do it vice versa, it gets louder. I don't want to just raise the volume on the mixer, it'd redline like crazy
:p
Any ideas on how to fix this?
Thx! |

It doesn't sound like feedback, it's just a hum, that's really annoying:(
It doesn't happen with my stereo...the thing is, my parents are having a party tonight and I need to use my dad's equipment... |

| I had a similar problem. My solution was to get better connectors, which reduced the problem to occasional humming, getting a better reciever eliminated the problem completely. I'm not sure what causes this, but my guess would be some type of interference (maybe even magnetic?) or simply bad SNR. |

| I connected my friend's DJM600, which doesn't seem to have the problem, no idea why, but it sounds much better than my PCV275:( |

Don't connect the mixer to the PHONO IN on the receiver. Connect it to a line-level input, like CD, AUX, TAPE, etc. |

Thx, it was actually a line-level input, for video with sound, which you can use just for sound for CD, etc., my dad didn't want me unplugging anything:p
It sounded fine with the DJM600, but the PCV275 was still giving me that noise.

What's SNR? My cable wasn't that great (I really need to get new ones), but meh, it worked out cool in the end:)
What bothers me is that it worked fine with one mixer, but crappy with another... |
