shouldn't the public have the right to choose who runs for office? its like that southpark episode with the douche and a terdsandwich. why is it this way?
Spacey Orange
it already happens, sort of. in the US, party members select persons in the primary elections to represent their party in general elections. for instance john kerry duked it out with howard dean to be the democratic party nominee in the presidential elections. bush was not contested.

^^^ What he said.

And also because you have a system which prevents multiply candidates running for office. Defenetly needs reform, but it seems like few are interested in it...

The overcorporatization of our mass media and the fact that the elections take place more within the media itself rather than within a base of an enlightened and knowledgably unbiased citizenry.

People are so inundated with the labors of daily life that they don't seem to know how (or are just too consumed with other things) to actually think for themselves. They obviously need to be told HOW to think, and they're usually just fed that 'public opinion' that you hear so much about on TV.

It's really just an overglorified, imbecilic mob mentality that determines our country's fate.

Scary, isn't it? :nervous:

Well, at least that's my opinion.

I think that if people had all the free time in the world they would still not know how to think for themselves.
