| What classes would I take as a prereq that would eventually lead me in into the computer engineering field. I need to know whether its even possible for me or not. |

There must be someone at your school whose job it is to give you this kind of information. Ask them.
Aside from that, I'm thinking Calculus is the only prereq you would need. |

ummm...
what type of computer engineering are you thinking about ??
engineering as in making buildings and other types of structures
or
engineering as in computer architecture engineering and making motherboards, circuitry, and the doo-dads that make a computer work ??
if part I, trig, calculus, and do some reading on CAD, because that is a common requirement for all engineering people when coming out of college (you sounding like you're from high school, so there probably isn't so much pressure in reading up on the program .. haha) .
if part II, then some discrete mathematics, algebra II, some calculus, but mostly the understanding of switches, circuits, and the other doo-dads ..
therefore, just study your mathematics, and you'll be fine. just to let you know, if you fail your college placement test for mathematics (if there is one ..), then think about another field please ... :p |

I think he means Computer Engineering. ie the hardware side of computers, opposed to computer science which is bascially software and OSs.
i wish i knew what classes to tell you to take. physics and math bascially. as much math and science as yuo can handle. but like somone else said, find a counselor and ask them. |

that's what i thought too ..
it depends on which college he is going to .. some colleges consider computer engineering as the CAD stuff, and working with engineering through computers . they always tie EE (electrical) with CE (computer) engineering ...
but yeah a little bit about physics (the voltages, powers, and stuff), but mostly discrete math, trig, and adv algebra (vectors, matrices, functions, etc ..) |

I took Comp Engineering at Virginia Tech.
Are you in college now? or a senior in high school? A lot of those classes everyone mentioned like discreet mathematics, you take when youre in 2nd semester of your sophomore year to junior. |

| This is what guidance councelors or councelors in general get paid to do at your school. You might want to find out who your particular councelor is or if you arent assigned one, go find one. |

If you're still in High School, you definately should take the AP Calc BC test.
Try and take AP Physics A & B too if possible.
AP Computer Science is nothing too exciting. They're still doing Pascal which is passible for a teaching language (imho, there are better languages for that), but is worthless for a "real" language.
Try and learn C on the side, so you have a fighting chance your first semester in college.
For my degree, I had to take 6 semesters of Math, and 4 semesters of Science.
Hit us up if you have more q's. |
