| We want to get a guard dog, but also want a good dog as a family pet. We've been considering either a Pitbull or German Shephard. Any suggestions? |

American Eskimo Spitz.
Seriously. They don't bite legs or anything, they tear throats out.
I love my spitz. |

Belgian Malinois!
They're similar to the German Shepherd. Very smart (used for police work) and great with kids. Whatever dog you choose, take it through proper training. |

If you get a german shephard you will not be sorry, it's the smartest dog out of all dog breeds.
And Pitbulls, yeah theres a ban in Ontario, and that means the only place you'll be able to pick one up is through an animal shelter(if they still allow that). So that's like getting a used dog, meaning you don't know what kind of training or personality the dog has. And you don't really want to take a chance like that with a pitbull, especially if there's kids in your family. |

Japanese Akita
They look freakin cool, and back in the days in Japan families used to leave the dogs to watch the kids while they would go out and work.
They are vicious but loyal, used to be used for pit fighting. |

| Shiba Inus as well. But they're like $2k from a reputable breeder, we found out. |

On subject of Asian dog, Chindo from Korea.
Kinda looks like a Lab, but a bit smaller. Extremely intelligent and loyal.
Probably very hard to find, unless you know some Korean dude who's got some puppies to give away. |

How good is the warranty on one of those? 10 year/100,000 kilometre? Can we expect the interior trim pieces to fall off? |
