does PVD mix tracks live anymore? I heard at a recent show he just put 2 laptops on top of the turntables and cue'd tracks using Ableton... no pitch control.

You can see the two laptops here, just happened two days ago here in Dresden:

Dont know about recorded sets but the best ive heard him this year was his 3 hour set @ Passion.

Followed closely by his set @ Cream in Liverpool.

All of his sets have been mint apart from Cream @ Amnesia for Creams 10th birthday which I thought was very dodgy. Didnt flow at all and played too many of last years average tracks and some tired old classics. Playing the dreadfull Underworld - Born Slippy just took the pisss.

disgrace IMO

2 laptops??? come on
I can understand vinyl is heavy to carry and all (which would explain the use of cdjs) but laptops???

He is not the only one. Adam Sheridan one hour ago also used one Laptop. That is called progress.

Read the interview with PVD on Judge Jules website and you will understand what abbleton is all about.

I know what its all about
I know it takes skill to use it too, and using ableton DJs can do things that they could never do when using vinyl/cds...to me a DJ has less of an appeal when he/she is using ONLY laptops (like above)

I know it's all about the music and I should not care, but that's how I feel

there's just something about when a DJs digs through the bag/cd rack for the next track or something... the vibe is just not the same

one laptop is fine, but using them exclusively... just doesn't register with me for some reason

or maybe i am just stuck in the past :P
