Hey,

I am interested in traveling to Ibiza in summer of 2006 or summer of 2007. I can find a ton of info on the actual island but I cannot find out how much transportation, hotels, etc... is?I would be interested in staying for a whole week and I would need a flight from out of the USA. Anyone here traveled there before? I am just looking for advice and some ways to save some money. Thanks!

I was there this past September and it ruled bc it wasn't as expensive as August yet the closing parties were ing awesome and the weather was just perfect.

Iberia = constantly late flights and lost luggage (2 of my friends experience lost luggage in 1 week)
Air Comet = sketchy airline but has very cheap flights as well and lost luggage, again.

BOOK AHEAD if you want cheap flights. Here are some website to check a few months before you go (don't forget expedia, travelocity, etc):

www.mobissimo.com
www.kayak.com
www.sidestep.com
:)

Depending what kind of music you like, . I would recommend staying in Ibiza Town because San Antonio is really full of rowdy drunk brits and horrible hard house and cheesy music. Ibiza Town has better beaches, betters pubs and an overall better vibe- and it's way cleaner in general and closer to Space/Pacha/DC10. But if you're way into trance, u might wanna stay in San An bc Eden is there (Judgement Sundays) and most of the clubs there play hard trance.

If you want to save money, RENT A CAR. it costs 35 Euros a day, you get the most out of your experience there and if you're splitting it between 3-4 friends, it's So cheap. a taxi from your hotel to, say, Amnesia alone will cost you at least 30 Euros. so right there you've saved money. plus there are so many amazing beaches, just get a map and go go go! gotta drive to get to these incredible places, it's the only way.

BUY CLUB TICKETS AHEAD OF TIME!!!!! you dont wanna pay 40 Euros at the door if you can get tickets for 18 Euros beforehand. Save where you can, cuz it's damn expensive.

if you wanna go for a week in August, be prepared to spend at least $2000, depending on if you do drugs and/or drink. I went for 10 days, i had 1 drink (i just dont really drink..), i dont do drugs and i did some very light shopping (souvenirs for family/friends, etc) and it cost me about $2500. so put that in perspective, and here's my breakdown:

$775 for flight (on ty iberia)
$500 for hotel (ty hotel too but it was fun)
$30-50 on food everyday
About $90 for car rental (split between 5 people)
Average of $30 per club per night
All else was misc. expenses (ie cell phone prepaid cards, and shopping, etc.)

if you really want inside info, there is a TA that is originally American that moved there recently.. her TA name is Tiffgrooves and her website is www.eurogrooving.com...she seems really nice and friendly! :)

Some interesting ibiza facts:

1> The early Phoenicians believed Ibiza to be a magic isle blessed by the Gods, because the rich, red soil is non volcanic and the island forbids survival to any reptile, animal, insect or plant that can harm humans. To this day many people wear amulets and pendants containing the sacred soil to protect the wearer from harm.

2> According to the predictions of Nostradamus, when nuclear disaster wipes out most life on Earth, the peculiar prevailing wind patterns over Ibiza will ensure that it is the sole remaining life-supporting environment.

3> The island of Es Vedra, rising from the waters off Cala D'Hort (one of the most beautiful beaches) supports no living thing. The Carmelite priest Don Francisco Palau meticulously recorded mystical revelations and meetings with 'unearthly beings surrounded by light' while meditating there. Gigantic circles of light, up to 50 metres diameter, emerging from the sea have discouraged fishermen from this area. A strong magnetic force is said to emanate from Es Vedra, attracting unexplained phenomena. Apparently this area is also guarded by a gigantic octopus.
