any application that utilizes hardware on a computer requires to have complete system access to install because there are registry edits and key allocations which initiate the drives/drivers. unless you have a modified login (by script via server), you won't be able to install and run any hardware authorizing software on that computer. A possible solution is to install a FTP Server on your home computer, and use a freeware FTP client to move over your data.

3.6gb is fairly large, might I inquire the data type? I'm assuming 8-10megapixel images because you are printing banner advertisement at school right? ;)

you know what i say ..

turn off the computer, and take the hard drive itself with you ..

you paid for it right ??

well the leasing part, with your tuition payments .. :D ..

but i agree with the above .. FTP, or take advantage of the 30-day refund policy (i dont know how it is up in your town folks), but go to the electronics store ( best buy, circuit city, compUSA ) and buy an external HDD .. then go back home, and transfer everything .. after that, bring the HDD back to your own computer, and transfer it .. format the HDD, and send it back to the store saying you are "unsatisfied" with the HDD ..

works all the time for me .. :D

Wont work. Most computers require admin priv for USB or Firewire connections. Let alone, with XP the computer will want to install the drivers for a new HD. With out admin access your are up s creek.

first, configure the hard drive at home.. then it'll work.

are you sure there's no dvd burning software installed already? i mean, why would they have a dvd recorder without the software? that would be a waste

that's weird.
my school and work have some heavy filters and security, yet my friend plugs in his iPod as an external storage device, and i can plug my flash disk inside .. then again, the drivers for those are pre-installed in windows already ... some external HDD require extra drivers and such ..

sounds like you tried it already ..

:haha:
