IQ test with a job application form ?

anyone filled out an IQ test along with a job application form ?
i have done mini ones before, but the one i took this morning was pretty mind boggling. there are mini ones asking you who is the president of the us, add these series of numbers, what direction is which, logic problems, etc .. i have also taken the "logic" tests, where they give you a whole control flow graph, and you have to decide what is the correct scenario in a particular node.
i think this is a good way to test applicants.

| hmmm...well i guess i've taken like an ethics type of test...like what would you do in this situation...but never an iq test. sounds like a good idea though... |

oh yeah ..
ethics test too ..
i remember questions like ..
'if you saw your employee stealing, would you report this to your superior?'
'is it ethical to take small accessories from your desk, such as post its, pens, and legal pad paper?'
'if you saw your boss burning in flames, would you save him?'
'would you make lewd comments, as a joke, towards a co-worker if he/she has proclaimed homosexuality ?'

I doubt it's really that high. The average is 100, and significant deviation from it is extremely rare. You'd get maybe one 120 in several thousands of people. Yet I'm sure if you polled this board everyone would say they have around 130 (trust me I've done it to other forums before) :p. Mostly because people take those crap online tests and believe the results are accurate. That being said, IQ isn't a good mesure of intelligence to begin with, it's more like a mesure of deviation from the norm.
Oh and I've had to take IQ tests for jobs, but it's mostly been ethics. Fun fact; if you try to apply for a counter job at a bank, they usually make you pass an IQ test and keep only the lowest scores as candidates to avoid fraud and theft. Got this info from guys who worked at HR in banks. ;) |

eh, I took one of those IQ tests a while back that someone actually bought. I don't know why they make you pay for those things but they do. I was "supposedly" 120... which I always thought was kind of low. |

would be kinda interesting if someone made an iq test accessible only to TA members.
that would guarantee an average of 100, and then you could actually go based on the deviations from the norm, unlike other scenarios where you have no idea who the norm is composed of. |

i agree with the IQ test being the deviation of a norm ..
i remember my IQ was in the upper 110 range when i had take it with a high school placement test back then ...
my IQ has probably drastically dropped since then .. it's true .. sex, drugs, and rock n roll ruin your life .. :( |

if we do this, i think the norm would be wayyy below the human average, because we have many n00bs, crackheads, and ganjaheads here to screw up the numbers .. :wtf: ..
