wow. talk about missing the point...

she took a swig of what she thought was water.

it wasn't.

then she passed out and the person who was with here decided to play doctor rather than calling an ambulance.

how very irrespobsible of her!
Ghostface
yeah but the people in the car aren't exactly credible witnesses.

does anyone think it would be different if you could buy a stubbie of speed or something like that, alcohol is a drug that also causes many problems however it is available for sale, but you know exactly what you are getting. but then when you drink someone's home brew its a different story. the same could happen with illicit substances...the people who around in their backyards can cause heaps of but if you could buy it like alcohol, regulated and produced properly do you think it would be different?

far from it charlee, i was just using what you said to sort of lead into my comments. imo, and i don't know a whole lot about the drug scene, it seems that one of the biggest dangers is that when you buy a pill or something off someone you don't necessarily know what has gone into it and where its come from, but if you buy a slab of beer you do. so maybe in terms of legalising drugs that is something that should be considered, perhaps if there was control over what goes in and how much you can get then maybe some of the risks would be removed. by getting rid of the backyard labs and dodgy traffickers and replacing it with something regulated and controlled like we have for alcohol and nicotene then it might be safer so to speak.

You seem to know a bit to me :D It is true that you are basically putting your life in someone elses hands. Just make them take one first ;)

^^ i agree with you philby, but i reckon the biggest problem with drug use is not so much the quality of the drug being bought, but with s who think its funny to triple-drop coz theyre so hardcore. in my experience most ppl dont have the mental ability to go hard with any drug, be it alcohol or otherwise. ppl are heads, with little or no understanding of themselves or their limitations.

Its so stupid comparing alcohol related incidents with drug related things.
Why because we all know alcohol is more widely available majority of people use it. Its just like comparing pedestrians getting run over to car accidents.
So obviously the statistics are always going to sway in favor of whats more widely used (not implying we use cars more than our legs ;P )

I remember there being an exact same thread like this one a while back and i did post in it the number of icu beds clogged up from drug overdoses from what id seen in an intensive care placement, sure as hell didnt see no drunks.

has anyone seen a doctumentary/movie called What if Drugs Were Legal? it raises some serious questions about morals and ethics, and has some really interesting facts about drug use in britain. for example more is spent on illegal drugs than on healthcare (approx. 9 billion pounds) which is all going to drug dealers. then think of all the crime that is directly linked to illegal drugs. also the number of people in jail for drug offences.

regarding the alcohol vs. drugs debate, alcohol is classified as a Class A drug in certain studies. it is put on par with heroin and cocaine with the damage it causes, and this is a legal drug. alcohol does heaps of damage in all areas of society yet people conveniently turn a blind eye. yet when illegal drugs are responsible then people immediately begin to preach about the evils of drugs. alcohol is no better than illegal drugs when taken in excessive amounts. i know someone that works in the emergency ward at the alfred and the majority of people that come in during the night on the weekend are in the directly because of alcohol or indirectly. anyway i know i had a point somewhere along the way but i think i got sidetracked. drugs and alcohol in excess are bad mmmmkay.

Philby
i think your point and my point are related teflon :)
