I realize they need some work, after going through the whole process of composing these now I realize how much I need to better my mixing/effects/mastering skills. Anyways check them out, Ive been listening to some of the tracks on here lately and Im very impressed with alot of your production abilities. Anyways, Im glad I found this place.

The byegene: http://www.ericrocks.org/the%20byegene9b.mp3

This one was done all in reason, used the master suite on it, Im currently in the process of reading a book on mastering , and various other article on effects and compression before the mix down.

Raise your head: http://www.ericrocks.org/Unknown%20...0head(demo).mp3

Pretty much all done in ableton , I need to go back and change some things, Im currently in the process of exporting each track to wav so its not such a huge drain on my cpu, I can't really tweak anymore the way it is because everything is running insainly slow.

Thanks alot for any feed back, criticisim, ect.... Ill be checking out more tunes on here when my brain hurts from mesing with these tracks!

okay... I listened to the first track... and here are my thoughts... I thought I'd start off by getting my constructive criticism off my chest first...

- There isn't really a sense of a buildup or structure in the track. I'm not talking about like the typical ferry corsten 3 minute breakdown here but rather that the track needs to flow progressively and has to have some sort of climax.
- Kick is too punchy for my taste. It loses a bit of its bite and needs a bit more treble to it IMO.
- Percussion is okay, but could be a bit beefier (a bit more in the mid range) and louder
- A lot of the synth sounds are sounding repetitive. Try varying it a bit more and having a melody that doesn't repeat itself over and over in 8 bars.
- Mastering could always be improved. Watch for things like too many instruments playing around the 300-800 hz range and try to cut out uncecessary frequencies for each instrument. (for ex. by EQing out any low frequencies for all your hats and high synths will make quite a difference. Try doing it for every single element of your track and you will find yourself ending up with a much clearer mix.)

okay... Now I know I seem negative, but dont' worry... this track is actually quite a treat to listen to. It has a very oldschool kinda feel which I like. Melodies are kinda cool and synthwork is quite interesting to listen to. I know you are just starting out, and have quite a lot to learn, but so far, it's sounding pretty great for your first few tracks... Anyways, good job on it so far, and keep it up!

I really liked Byegene. Great melodies and interesting beats. The same goes for Raise your Head. Can't say anything more than that. I liked them :)

Well, After relistening to the byegene and reading J.L.s comments I get where your comin from on all of it except the composition, not that I disagree, though it sounds fine to me. I have searched and searched for info on composition on google and tried on this forum but the search was down, Ill go check again after this, besides that Ive just been listening more closely to music collection, but Im still having troubles with it....

Im actually in the middle of trying to get some vocals recorded for the byegene, hopefully they turn out well, Ill post it when im through with that and making some other eq/mixing adjustments.

Thanks to both of you for the comments!
