lol... pvd's tracklists own armins.
firstly... his mixing blows armin outta the water... a 4 hour pvd set will probably consist of close to 65 tracks to 75, while a 4 hour armin set consists of 50 tops?
and ya'll know how armin is getting all techy recently... lol... definitely borrowing from pvd's style. sure.. there are plenty of other dj's who play that style... but pvd was probably one of the few big "trance" dj's to consistently throw in an hour or so of techno/other types of crazy music. i mean.. look at the armin's old set from glow that was just posted by trancer x... trance trance trance trance.... not to hate... because i do that myself all the time.. :D. |

So this is turning into a " " vs " " thread now? Well, I guess you might be able to say PvDs mixing is better but from what I can hear, they mix differently anyway. PvDs tracks pretty much just suddenly come in, which is probably technically harder to do while Armins blend. I like both styles. As far as borrowing PvD's style? Thats a laugh. :stongue: Thanks for that. ;) |

just wanted to comment that pvd's mixing is superb, i'll give him credit where its due but his track selection is typical, stop being an artist, be a DJ because thats what made us love you....
R.I.P Bi-Monthly Residency @ Twilo (RIP)
That is true PVD, I almost pissed myself when I heard For An Angel inside twilo's system. Literally...ok maybe it was the water dripping from the ceiling...if you went to twilo, you knew... |

I don't think that exactly means anything though. Seems as though a lot of dj's are getting into it. It has really grown on me too. |

I major Tribal track that kind put that genre of trance on a bigger map is Tribal Shock, and PvD played that before Armin got to it. |

He's an artist now, artist play their own work
99-01 he was a DJ, and a DJ plays OTHER peoples work. Thats when it was more fun because you saw a diversity in selection. Essentially thats what builds a set (the flow). Now a days, all DJs produce to make money and all producers DJ for the fame. It's the fact of the matter.
One successful producer / dj or in this case a singer and producer is Pharrell. He's got the money, the fame, and the beats to back him up.
And believe it or not, PVD once dropped Rank1-Awakening at Sound Factory 2001 (or 2002) I believe. That was literally the weekend after ultra - I was burnt to say the least...
Also when our beloved Taub(Matt) donated to PVD at NY<3PVD SHIRT!
edit-which also happen to be his first return to NYC since the closing of Twilo *then it was 2002* |
Back then he was playing alot of his own stuff. It all comes down to technology. The programs and beat machines artist use are different then the ones from 7 years ago. The sounds now are so recycled. Everything has the same pattern to it. |

And the Free Water Fountain (usually where the dripping water was)
The DJ in the bathroom
The Round Bubble Chairs upstairs
The Twilo Store upstairs
The bending wooden floor that felt like it would cave in but you didnt care
The smoking cigs inside a club but it was so packed you didnt care
GOD I MISS THAT PLACE.... |
