van exel is overrated...
Besides, he's only gonna be playing off the bench after parker parker and bowen anyway. Exel has been in the league how many years and he still needs to learn how to defend.

MVWP award will go to Dirk Nowitzki

you're wrong. With the beast injured in pheonix this season, the MVWP will be steve nash. No white boy can come close to him.

yeah, I know he won't have a perminant target above the rim, but nash still has the ability to fill in 30 points per night. His assist per game may drop by 3-5 per game, but that still leaves him with a respectable point guard average in that category, but his individual scoring will soar this season. Believe me, and I'm not saying this because I wanna see a canuck do well for himself again, but Nash is uncontested as the best point guard, and easily the best whitey in the league.

I mean, all you have to do is look at last year as a prime example of how much he means to that team. The season prior to Nash's arrival, pheonix was a team full of althletes, who would try to turn every game into a track meet, but without someone controlling the flow of the game, they couldn't win ball games. You can't win in crunch time when the fast break is taken away by defensive hustle, and without anyone controlling the ball, their halfcourt offensive sets were non-exsistant.

Look at Dallas as well. Once Nash left, the team struggled to find a pure point guard who could get them into their sets and play them at least at a comparable level. And yet, now that he's gone, so are the days when Dallas was lighting up defenses for 110+ points per game.

Even last season when Nash arrived, I know the NBA doesn't keep stats on this, but if you were to look at the plus-minus of team points vs scored against when nash was on the floor to off, it would have been the largest discrepency in the league. A testiment to his 'pass first, team first' style of play. He moves the ball so well, he makes everyone he plays with that much better, and turns a team with maybe 3 offensive weapons into one with 7 or 8. In fact it wouldn't surprise me to find kurt thomas playing the best season of his career when nash is spending every night driving the lane, then dropping dimes down low to him for open dunks and lay-ups.

No other position in basketball can ever make that much of a difference unless they are clearly hall of fame material....Both Dirk and Nash are not at that level yet.

havent been keeping up with the nba, but i watched the past playoffs a bit and was really impressed by ginobli. quite the effective player when driving to the basket and i reckon another candidate for MVWP. didnt he win the playoffs MVP award?
