Hey, i'm thinking of buying a new mixer, my curently (behringer vmx-200) is getting a bit booring, and the sound quality aint all that.

So i'm thinking of a Pioneer djm500, but hears the deal, i saw a Vestax VMC 004 for a good price, it's really cheap, compared with the djm500, and i stil get 4 channels and all that, the vestax ofcourse lacks the effects wich is on the djm, but that aint all that important.

I've only heard good things about Vestax, anyone on the forum that has this mixer, your thoughts on it ?

Thnx!

I would still go for the DJM 500.

Pioneers EFX are so sweet.

if you're thinking djm, go with the 600
it's worth the extra cash

I am currently using a Vestax VMC 004, i used to use the PMC 170a. The VMC 004 is very good value for money, i think they cost around £200. You will struggle to find a better mixer for that price. The sound quality is top (what you would come to expect from vestax) and the faders are all you need as well as replaceable. You have enough EQ to mix well with however... It is certainly not a DJM 500 / 600. But then its about a 1/3 of the price and i wouldnt say the DJMs are £400 better. Id love to get a DJM 600 and this will probs be the next mixer i get. so sexy and the auto BPM effects ... hours of fun :D

hope this helps

i have one too. i love the headphone monitoring section the most.

i also dig the lvl meter on ever channel.

i also love that i can dedicate each channel to a different source, instead of having to toggle switches, or try to co-ordinate which deck or cd to play the next song, so i can stay on top of cuing everything and not have 2 songs back to back on the same channel.

it's perfect for my late night mixing sessions where i can't bump a monitor or my stereo. you can do all your mixing in your headphones. you can hear all your eq'ing, gain changes, and every fade or x-fade. -if you use it at all. i have all my channels assigned to mix.

two things i don't like. one, is the cuing knob. i can live w/it. but it would be a lot better every channel had it's own button/switch.

the second thing has nothing to do w/the mixer, but w/vestax. you have the vmc on end of the spectrum, basic and affordable. if you want something that sounds better, then there's this huge $1100+ gap to the carl cox mixer, or the pmc500. neither mixer gives you the same headphone monitoring that the vmc004 has.

if you're in los angeles, i'll sell you my vmc004. the sooner i can pick up a NUO5 the better.
