A cue file is basically a .txt file that enable some burning progs to "cut" continuous large mixes into audio tracks. The mix still play continuously but you can have direct access to the different tracks if you wish. Of course it is not necessary to use a cue sheet but without it you'll have one large continues track only.
CdrWin & FireBurner understand cue sheets nicely. If you want to burn your mix using the cue just open CdrWin, Record Disk, Load CueSheet, browse to your .cue file and burn. That's it! Make sure the .mp3 file and the cue are in the same dir!
For mixes longer than 80mins, you need to cut the mix to 80 or 74mins if you wish to burn the mixes as audio and you need to edit the cue file.
To cut the mp3 file you can use MannsMp3Edit or your favorite sound editor.
To edit your cue, open it in NotePad and delete all tracks that passed your cut mix playing time.(74 or 80mins..)
A new Winamp plugin also enables you to play the set/cue as a continues file with direct access to the different tracks

Also if you want to create your own Cue sheet you can use NotePad or if you feel really lazy you can use CDRCue Cuesheet Editor

| I can't say I've tried it with an mp3 yet, but I do know that loading the .cue file (in Nero) just like you would an iso file will work on making app cd's. Just click File, Burn Image, then select All Files, and load up the .cue file.(and in theory, this should load up the mp3 and break it apart) Like I said, I haven't tried it with audio stuff yet, but I have had it work perfectly everytime when burning software. |

Actually, I am a bit confused by what you are trying to do there... are you trying to cut the long MP3 into smaller MP3s using a CUE file, or are you trying to burn a long MP3 as an audio CD in which there are songs separated by the CUE file...? Well, whatever the problem is, please respond, there's no way I can't help you there... |

| please lets let someone help with the cue sheet problem i am having before we worry about other problems.....i have been waiting long |

All right, let me try and explain this in a couple of quick & easy steps:
1. Get your Magik 7 (or any other album that is in a format of one long MP3 file)
2. Go to http://www.regeert.nl/cuesheet/ and look for the cuesheet for "Magik 7" that has all the tracks of that album listed... it should look something like this:
PERFORMER "DJ Tiesto"
TITLE "Magik 7 (Live in Los Angeles)"
FILE "Dj Tiesto - Magik 7.mp3" MP3
TRACK 01 AUDIO
PERFORMER "The Auranaut"
TITLE "People Want To Be Needed"
INDEX 01 00:00:00
TRACK 02 AUDIO
PERFORMER "Three Drives"
TITLE "Sunset On Ibiza"
INDEX 01 07:44:07
... (and so on)
NOTE: if you use the cuesheets generated from freedb, they look kinda screwed up, since they don't list PERFORMER for each song, instead that information is combined into the TITLE field of each track. This isn't much of a problem if you don't have a CD-TEXT enabled CD player, but if you want to be able to see the artist/title of the song scrolling on your CD player then you should spend some time either looking for or editing an existing cuesheet so it has PERFORMER and TITLE fields for each track. This way you are getting a perfect copy of the CD, so your computer audio apps (Audiograbber, for example) can recognize the artists/titles correctly too, in case you wanna rip this CD or lend it to someone, or whatever...
3. Save the cuesheet (file you found in Step 2) into a .cue file, open it in a text editor (notepad), and change the line at the top (one of the first couple of lines) that says something like this:
FILE "Dj Tiesto - Magik 7.mp3" MP3
to reflect the filename of the MP3 file you are trying to burn, because chances are that your MP3 file will have a different filename from the one listed there.
4. Download CDRWIN from http://www.goldenhawk.com, and install it (you can use any other burning program that supports CUE sheets).
CDRWIN you will either have to purchase or crack (find some on http://astalavista.box.sk) in order to get the convenience of burning at speed greater than 1X.
5. Start up CDRWIN, click on RECORD DISC, click LOAD CUESHEET, locate the .cue file mentioned in Steps 2 & 3, click OPEN, and you will get back to the RECORD DISC menu.
(If you get an error here, you probablu skipped Step 3, and the CDRWIN cannot locate the MP3 file you want it to burn, or there are errors in CUE sheet itself)
6. OK, now you just press START RECORDING button, and off you go...
What the program will do now is burn that MP3 file of yours, but it will cut it into tracks while burning, and the beginning, performer and title of each track is listed in the cuesheet (that's beasically what they are for, holding the CD image information).
That should be it, in as few steps as I could afford to write at this time... now, if you have any problems, or you get some errors, please post here. Or if anyone else can see some mistakes I made in this post, please let me know...
I am off to a well deserved rest... Montreal, here I come! See ya all next year! And HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! |
