Hmm, well I know this question is a bit annoying but it will help me a lot...
I've been producing for over 3years now, I believe that my music got a good vibe to it (I can upload something if you want), my structure is mainly ok, and the sounds I produce are ok aswell but ok is not enough for me...it's annoying me that my sounds don't have that "pro" touch to them...It's like they sound good but not interresting....
I was wondering if you got any good suggestions or turorial that I can read and learn some more on:
Building the track, Building a Bit, Making the synths, Mixing & Mastering, etc'.
It would really mean a lot since it's bugging me lately and I can't work on music...I start a new project, it sounds great to me...then a few days after it sounds like crap...and since I've learned a few things from this forum I was wondering if you guys could help me some more.
Thanks a lot =) |

3 years isn't a long time and it takes alot longer than that to become a professional master like the pro's as you put it.
My philosophy is read, read and read more on the structure and complexities of sound. Practice playing your instruments and mixing everyday and you begin to improve over time.
It takes time, but if your heart is in it and you dedicated, you soon become master in producing music.
I'm the same and I bet all musicians have the same feeling when a track they work on just does not have the same energy or feeling a day or two later. :sadgreen:
Also, most commercial recordings have gone through thousands and thousands of pounds of mixing consoles and audio processors. So if you are using a simple pc system anda handful of plugins you can't really think you are going to get the same result. ;)
Although, nothing is impossible and some great tracks have been produced in the bedroom :) |

thy was right when he said 'knowledge is power'
its very true. and you can never have enough knowledge. not in this industry. |

Sounds like you are talking about Synth Modeling. Last night I let a semi pro DJ/producer listen to one of my tracks, he said the synths I used sounded "out of the box". Uh boy, just when I think I'm doing good, something else comes up. Kind of discouraging. I need to check the sticky's too I guess. |

You guys are so right! I seconed every word you said.
- Though - it's not always time, it's also talent and learning capabilites I believe...Hydroid as far as I recall (I'll ask him tomorrow again) is a music producer for about 3.5 years and he got to places that some older artists haven't gone yet...I see remixing a track of Ferry Corsten more then a lil job to be honest.
But then again, some people learn it fast and some take a bit more time for it but the sentence which I will never forget is (and a friend of mine told it to me) - "Only those who quit are the ones who never get heard of"...oh yea and there's another thing like that, Another friend of mine told me that you need to 2 things to be a real music producer:
1. to be patient (hope I spelled it right).
2. to believe in yourself.
So even in my darkest moments I try to keep it cool and not go to harsh on myself...
But anyhow what I wanted to say was that I know that 3 years isn't a long time and I keep telling myself that if it won't happend now it will get here later... =)
Soo...now it's too late...5.40am so I'll go to sleep but gonna have myself some stickies for breakfast or something tomorrow =)
Good night and thanks! :D |
