Well we just played our first home match tonight and lost 3-2. It was a toughy since we were beating up on this team from the get go but then the inexperience on our team came out. Guys took it easy thinking we had an easy win, needless to say we came up short. I got so upset/pissed off that i had some kind of a panic attack or something...half way through the last set i had trouble breathing, felt light headed, had no idea what was going on. I had played really well up until that point, but had no help from anyone else...i guess everyone expects the 'foreigner' on the team to win matches..heh..
Our fans are INSANE!!!!!! Unlike anything i had ever seen in my life. Long story short the cops had to escort over 100 fans out of the gym after they pelted the referees and other players with anything and everything imaginable. The vibe in that gym was increadible. 400-500 crazy people in a small gym can make it seem like you're playing infront of 10,000.
Anyways, we're 1-1 now. Won our first match last sunday against one of the best teams at thier place and on national tv. I'm making a name for myself already, people chanting MATT, MATT everywhere, and my agent is getting contacts about possible contracts for next year...
I'll post some more pics when i get a chance!! |

I know what panic attacks are like, and when they hit, it sucks! Unfortunately there's not much you can do about them because it's all psychological (unless you want to be fed Xanax or some other crap like that). The best thing i can recommend is going to a counsellor and getting them to give you some ways to relax when you feel one coming on. Breathing excercises work best for me, as well as focusing on something outside of the panic zone.
Hope you get it sorted out :) |
