Hmm....I don't think so.
From IMDB.com:
(About Munich)
| quote: | | Steven Spielberg was going to direct this film for a 2003 or 2004 release but shelved it when Tom Cruise became available and the duo could work on War of the Worlds (2005) instead. |
(About War of the Worlds)
| quote: | | Initially estimated to have a 2007 release date, this film was abruptly greenlit in mid-August 2004, for a 2005 release, when director Steven Spielberg and star Tom Cruise happened to become available when other projects stalled. |
As you can see, originally Munich was supposed to be released 3-4 years before War of the Worlds.

| quote: | | Steven Spielberg's Munich would create the definitive trilogy of post 9/11 paranoia. The Terminal, considered a lark by some, was a Capraesque satire of the slightest fear of allowing foreigners onto our native soil. The H.G. Wells remake cut to the horror of an attack on that soil and the helplessness the common family felt when the enemy seemed indestructible even with the most advanced modern technology. Using the tragedy of the 1972 Olympics as the first struck match, Munich puts it all into perspective as a thriller in every manner of the term; a damning indictment of revenge's infinite twist on a world besieged by religious entitlement. |
'nuff said. You have to be an idiot to not notice the shades of 9/11 in WoW. The ash covered survivors, the confusion, the helplessness, the people posting fliers of loved ones on the boards, etc. Maybe I shouldn't have put hunt for Osama and put hunt for Saddam.
BTW, what do you consider good movies? If Munich sucks and War of The World sucks, I'd like to hear what you think is good. Don't see a movie with preconceived notions and expecting it to be what you want. One of my favorite movies is Lost In Translation and A LOT of people I know HATED that movie. They said it was slow and had no point. And wasn't funny at all. Bill Murray movies are suppose to be funny, they say. They need to see Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. They needed to see big explosions and hear jokes every second. Speaking of Bill Murray, I still need to check out Broken Flowers. |

I found the last scenes, even the sex scene, non-corny. Pretty explicit though. |

I thought it was an alright movie. To the general public it might be great, or what not...
But from the perspective of a jew, I find this movie to be somewhat anti-israel - and I feel like people are supposed to leave this movie feeling bad for these terrorists. I say them - best parts of the movie for me were watching the ******s die. |

why can't people enjoy the movie for 's sake
someone always has to be politically correct
you come to the movies for entertainment, leave politics at home
you can't please everyone I guess |

Agree. I enjoy a movie for what it is. Entertainment. Escapism. Some people will hate a certain movie just because a certain director or actor takes part in it. I don't go see a movie based on the director/actor. I go see it because the subject interests me. I could care less what genre it's in, much less who's in the movie. |

I'm unfamiliar with that type of sex so I don't know the answer. |

This sounds like it could be any one of a number of natural disasters, from the way you've phrased it. Here's an idea: NOT EVERYTHING HAS TO DO WITH 9/11.
Yes, I agree that there lies within the movie the possibility of a 9/11 reference or two (or more). However, the same could be said for virtually any other event that produces mass casualties.

Do you want me to say that I loved Mr. and Mrs. Smith? In comparison to War of the Worlds, yes, I loved it. Christmas with the Kranks was good in comparison to War of the Worlds. Hell, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen movies are good in comparison to War of the Worlds.
However, you seem to be insinuating that in addition to enjoying Mr. and Mrs. Smith (which I did not, when compared to the entire world of motion pictures), I disliked Lost in Translation. I fail completely to see how this is relevant, bringing personal taste into what was previously a rebutement of a supposed link to 9/11 in War of the Worlds. But I suppose all cretins must eventually succumb to the oh-so-glorious ad hominem attack.
Should I indulge you? Or rather, shall I indulge you?
Yes, I thought Lost in Translation was a good movie. I thought Pi was a good movie. I thought the Godfather series and Memento and American History X were good movies. But again, I fail to see what this has to do with a supposed link to 9/11 within War of the Worlds. |

saw it today and thought it was pretty good. Really long though. I enjoy a good deal of psychology in a film, and I enjoyed the struggle with the idea of killing/murdering vs fighting for beliefs. I think that last sex scene played revelance to the dialogue in the film about ongoing births leading to ongoing resisitance. Anyways, a lot of talk and deliberation for 3 hours, interesting, but may bore some.
