He makes awesome sets and mixes and gets next to no attention and then he starts releaseding mediocre, sub-par mixes and turns his sets into utter and he's a world renound DJ.

Care to explain how the post was ignorant?

As with all things in the music industry, marketing.

Talent is required of course whether it be with production or mixing (both is obv. a nice advantage). Bus as many know there are people on T.A. with more talent than those earning 1000s a week DJing around the world....

........This is down to a series of things, alot of hard work. If you ask any Top Jock i am sure they will tell you it has not all come easy. Hard work mixed with talent and a drive to achieve something is a good combination. It also helps to arrive on the scene at the right time, those who have been promoting since before the trance scene really blew up e.g. PVD have been there from the start.
Who you know can be a big boost especially early on in careers. You may know a club owner or promoter which will allow you that break through you needed. There will be alot of talent sitting in a bedroom wanting so bad to break through, knowing they could do it but simply cannot get the luck or find the break because the owner / promotor is a cocky bell end or for whatever reasons. Personally id say not to give up all good things come to those who wait. Or in this case, have talent, work hard and wait :P
Everyone has to start somewhere, if your offered a slot on a tuesday night in a student bar .... ing take it do not be an ignorant **** and think your too good because playing to a crowd is so different to playing in your room. any experience is good experience and would only help your cause.
I wouldn't know so much about production, i was told by the owner of a local record shop not long ago " Unless your a big name or you've produced a track you won't stand a chance of a slot on a saturday @ ***** " . obv. producing will help, which has motivated me to get involved sooner rather than later. above & beyond for example, produced quality tunes for years now (in my opinion) and now because of all the hard work put in then, they have really burst onto the DJ scene in the last year, scoring 19th on top 100 poll , running a global radio show and touring all over the world.

I am going off the sub now, hope this is useful in some way ? :conf:

He came out with a few good remixes, made a few good sets and then realized that no matter how ty his songs and sets were that people still rode his cock.

I'm sorry, but right when he started his quest for the top, his sets were BRILLIANT, I.E. Trance Energy. His productions were on ing fire, I.E. Sparkles, Destination Sunshine, Silence.... what do you mean he got no attention??? His productions didn't start lacking quality until AFTER he was voted #1.... and that's when everyone started riding his cock!

You should have started with your last comment before your original. You may be smarter than you appear.

Talent, hardwork, sacrifice, and having something original and edgy which I think is even more important today... to be on top you have to define yourself.

Yeah, I'll be waiting for your first gig at Innercity there buddy...

Seriously though, I think a lot of it has to do with production, because there is nothing like seeing a DJ live and him firing up one of his own tracks for the crowd. Everyone goes nuts. So yeah...production is key.

Plastick
I see people saying production is the main key but I believe the thread starter mentioned this...

Me, as a listener holds no power in my words in this thread... I'll say hard work + luck + place! (provided u've got the mind set to be one)

Like already said above, if you don't produce, the chances are very small that you will ever become a big well-known dj. So you will just have to be very talented, and have a lot of luck. And good contacts!
