Ive had these questions on my mind for a while now, if they are in a faq somewhere please point it out, i havent come across it yet.
lets begin:
How does the signing process usually work with EDM music? is there a contract you sign with the label that likes your stuff and upon signage you are to work with them for a specific amount of time? or do you just constantly create single songs on your own that you get signed by different labels depending on what they want?
Also, how does pay work, do they pay you a certain amount for a song and then thats it, or do you usually make a certain percentage based on the sales?
and also is it easy to get cheated on by labels? like they take your song, say its not that great, include it in a mix (to make you feel good), pay you a little bit, then say thank you and then after all this is said and done, they blow the song up and never speak to you again? I know its kinda extreme but just wondering.
I know these have probably been answered before, but I cant seem to find anything using the search feature. I tried typing in signed, signing and it doesnt seem to find anything related to what Im looking for. Thanks for the help |
