I was just wondering, what speed is modern trance these days - 135, 136, 137, 137.5, 138 or 140 BPM etc etc.

Should I be making tracks at 138 which can be speeded up by DJs (as DJ's nearly always speed tracks up anyway)

Or should 140 be the bench mark. Theres a post in here from a record label syaing the wont except anything slower than 140, I suppose 140 is a barrier as faster starts becoming hard trance?

Club trance 135-138bpm
Prog trance 134/136bpm
hard trance 145bpm +
uplifting/melodic trance 136/140

anyone care to tell me more please

I always go for the bpm that suits the track :)

Personally I think you just get a feeling for what BPM the track should be.... there is no set limit....

Some tracks we have done have been 132 cause it just sounded right.
Others have been 138 which is nice for pitching up a little without the track sounding stupid...

and one or two have been as high as 140 to 142

I guess its really just a case of sitting and trying a few out to see what changes it makes to the sounds and then setting on something.

good luck

I'm not usually the rude kind of person, but in this case i'm about to burst into flames. F-ck all kinds of boundries. Don't care about them. If you create something for your own pleasure, why should anyone else care if its 10 bpm:s to slow. If they do it's their problem not yours. Go about it in your own manner....

hard trance 145????!!!
only if u are talking about hard dance, hard house etc

because the majority part of hard trance is about 138-140

I generally aim for between 176-180 BPM.

Whatever newb label doesn't accept tracks slower than 140 is severely missing out. Their loss.

trance can be in 280 bpm

just depends how often you place the kick drums

me always put trance tracks around 135 /138 standart...if a dj wants to play it faster (lets say 140) he'll just use the pitchcontroller to increase the bpm

as for the music itself....like said before...tempo doest matter..its the music that counts
